  • The worst Apple designs by Jony Ive, according to the AppleInsider staff

Face it, the original, 128K Mac was ugly. The Lisa was (necessarily) bulky, but what came after... Jobs wanted a one-piece unit--the toaster paradigm.

A white, minimalist, box + petite monitor would have been better. Later models looked a bit better, without the someone-has-been-smoking-in-this-room-for-20 years tone.
I’m not really sure what you’re criticizing here — the color? Or, the all-in-one design?

What you describe as the color is what I would say it looks like now after 35 years of yellowing. But when it came out, the natural color is PMS 453, which is a nice shade of greenish-beige, with a beautiful contrasting taupe accent color in cables, keyboard and mouse,  which looked nicer than the dull beige boxes which could be found in every business product manufactured at the time.

The all-in-one design was revolutionary, and persists to this day in the very pragmatic and beautiful iMac. Separate components as you suggest were the bland IBM standard of the day, and was hardly as attractive as Job’s concept.

But who can argue with an opinion?

  • Apple Watch could get a camera on the end of a watch band's strap

As others have pointed out, adding more and more hardware and software features puts more and more drain on the battery. Battery technology is stagnant with major improvements still in the laboratory at MIT and elsewhere.
maybe a modest battery is included in the camera strap and so is separated (both actually and psychologically) from the watch's battery? although a dead battery is annoying, I think most users would tolerate monitoring the camera's battery separate from the watch's and understanding that usage of the camera is battery constrained (like airpods).
That would be my guess. This goes against Apple's design philosophy, which was intentionally not to extend functionality into the bands. Apple shut down a third party extended battery company by disabling the diagnostic ports to prevent such accessories.  Putting a small power source in the band to power things such as limited feature cameras and a BT radio to transmit data to the watch would go a long way to keeping Apple's design philosophy intact and seems a more Apple-like approach that allows wristband accessories a common platform approach rather than opening up the diagnostic ports to everyone.

Good, a camera on Apple Watch can’t happen soon enough as far as I’m concerned.
    Yes, but this ain’t it.

To truly be an iPhone replacement, which in many respects it already is, it will need a camera. I’d expect it to be a face time/selfie cam at first, capable of taking rough, unframed perspective photos in a pinch.

  • New 'iPhone 11 Max' case renders back triple-lens camera, Lightning port

I do hope iPhones move to USB-C so people do not have to run around with as many cables.
Except, what people are we talking about? There's only a small percentage of Apple customers who would need another cable besides Lightning. The vast majority of iPhone users do not own Macs or iPad Pros, or even iPads. So a wholesale switch to USB-C would mean a billion customers would have to replace all of their cables and accessories with USB-C, when they otherwise don't need USB-C for anything else they own. Maybe that won't be true in 10 years, but in 10 years, I also expect Apple to go fully wireless. So why introduce a cable standard that will inconvenience the majority of its customers for a few short years before the standard moves to wireless and eliminates cables completely anyway?

  • Photos of Apple Card showcase design, weight, and packaging

Anybody think this white card is going to look dirty and dingy after a relatively short amount of time?
It's not white - it just looks white in the picture. It's made of titanium and is a shade of grey, I think.
Either way, it’ll be interesting to see how this ages. My regular cards are covered with scratches, scrapes, and grime from being swiped through so many readers, but those blemishes don’t really stand out against the dark colors used for the cards. Maybe the titanium will be more resilient. Or maybe somebody will sell Apple card polish. ;-) I have to admit I’ve never even thought about cleaning my credit cards — but it’s probably not a bad idea considering all the people who handle it.
