App Store URL suggests next MacOS upgrade not version 11, Apple sticking with 10.13
repressthis said:Um, when were tech pundits speculating the next macOS update to be a major release (macOS 11) and not business-as-usual point release (macOS 10.13)? I'm certainly not expecting a major release anytime soon.
2. Apple recently dropped the "X" from Mac OS X.
3. iOS 11 is coming out soon, and bumping macOS to 11 would allow them to sync the version numbers up.
I wouldn't write this one off just yet. The next macOS, whatever it may be called, hasn't even been announced yet, so its name is likely still in flux. -

Apple AirPort Extreme claims top marks in consumer-grade wireless router survey
jdiamond said:Actually, you just hit on my main need for Airport Extreme over other networking devices - printer sharing. While other brands offer printer sharing, I haven't found a single one that can do it with Macs - they all only have drivers for Windows! If anyone wants to start a company out there, please produce Mac drivers for print sharing. Thanks!

It looks as if Netgear may be trying to set itself up as the successor to the AirPort routers. -
Apple AirPort Extreme claims top marks in consumer-grade wireless router survey
williamh said:I've used Apple Airports for many years now and I am generally happy. I expect the high marks are because most people are intimidated by the idea of the setup of other brands (although they're mostly easy enough.) Airports have fewer distinguishing features now as a many other routers can also do printer and drive sharing. The main advantage is Time Machine backup for multiple machines on the network. If you only have one machine to back up, you may as well plug in a drive. -
