2. Apple recently dropped the "X" from Mac OS X.
3. iOS 11 is coming out soon, and bumping macOS to 11 would allow them to sync the version numbers up.
I wouldn't write this one off just yet. The next macOS, whatever it may be called, hasn't even been announced yet, so its name is likely still in flux.

It looks as if Netgear may be trying to set itself up as the successor to the AirPort routers.

Netgear's current lineup of routers seem to support Time Machine backups to an attached USB drive, so that might be a suitable replacement.williamh said:I've used Apple Airports for many years now and I am generally happy.
