  • Editorial: Who will buy iPhone 8?

For the first time Apple releases an iPhone not an S cycle, and the insults roll in, are they confused by the name so much they can’t accept change? Also these are improved devices at the appropriate price point, the X is something more or lesss experimental at a $200-300 higher price, buy it if you want it!

  • Apple isn't expected to catch up to iPhone X demand before first half of 2018

I think they should note that the iPhone 8 snd 8+ are both really similar to iPhone X in price to benefit ratio, so yes the iPhone X will certainly be a high seller, but like the regular outsells the + models, I imagine the 8 will outsell the X, but the X might outsell the 8+. Not knowing the exact statistics(and very well could be wrong), but I think total 2017 model iPhone sells won't meet 40 million X sells before 2017 is over, certainly it will be reached at some point in 2018 though.

  • Face, the future: the new touch-less ID of iPhone X

Okay, looking at face id, it will be probably much better then anyone is willing to care for it. Here is the thing though, if you don't want it, then go for the iPhone 8, it has the touch id, and sure doesn't have the great new screen, but you also save $200, you have the choice.

Also, I feel the face ID would be amazing on the MacBooks, and probably iMac too. I doubt they will want to implement it on the iPad as people tend to hold those at more variable angles. I don't think this is the Touch ID replacement, like this article points, but the alternative, and eventually a future iPhone will include both for choice(like rumors pointed they wanted an under glass sensor that failed, but it might still work in the future).

  • Apple's 'iPhone 8' may do facial recognition while laying on tables & desks

Everytime I see the facial recognition, I think that there is a reason for Apple putting the fingerprint scanner on the front, because you never haft to lift the phone off the table and can take it anywhere, the only issue being someone wearing gloves. The facial recognition however means you haft to look at the phone, which if it can handle angles like this article claims, then maybe, but what about someone using there phone and not looking towards it, blind people, people wearing helmets(and possibly sunglasses), etc. It is a group of people that are not at convenience.

  • USB 3.2 standard promises 20Gbps speeds over existing Type-C cables

No you don't. It doesn't make a lick of difference if your USB-C peripheral only supports USB 3.1 speeds and on your Mac with USB 3.2 in 5 years time.
Given that 3.1 is a slower speed than 3.2, the difference it matters is the difference in speed between them. Not sure how that’s confusing.
Fragmentation requires breaking, but if your old USB 3.1 device still works on a new Mac that supports up to USB 3.2 then nothing has FRAGMENTED.
OK, what I'm more worried of is the vice versa, you buy a new mac right now that is USB 3.1 speed, which Apple first adopted in October last year with the macbook pros, then in about 6 months everything goes to USB 3.2 and you can't use the newer accessories with your new mac, you only have about a year of the standard on use before it is replaced, and sure you can go backwords with USB 3 or 2 speeds, but 3.1 is never truly popularized and you do have fragmentation on the device you use, of course you can buy the newer 3.2 USB computers, but that is costly to the consumer for true speed access.
