  • Apple Pay used by estimated 127M users globally, but analyst claims only 16 percent of iPh...

Well I just use my Apple Watch for Apple Pay all the time. Does that count? How it’s use is not more widespread, I cannot fathom.
It's not as widespread as it should be because of peoples prejudices.
They think that it's not as secure.
When I explain to them that having access to my phone they can not use it to make any purchases or get any information from it since no name or card number ever appears on it, they start to understand. On the other hand with my PayPass Mastercard they can go on a shopping spree anywhere contactless payments are accepted.

We want a “durable” product. Not something “aged” in just a year.
And how exactly are your AirPods not durable?
    Have they stopped working?

  • Failure of Pixel 2 exposed a larger problem: Google's ads don't work

Note that Apple's original goal for iPhone's first full calendar year was a very modest 10 million units (it sold 13). And that was a few years before iPhone took off like a rocket, and even more years before everybody and their sister absolutely had to have a smartphone in their pocket. The product category is a decade and running, but Google sells 3.9 million units its first calendar year.
Wrong. The Pixel is really Nexus 2.0, so this is not Google's first foray into hardware, no matter how it's spun.
Furthermore you can not compare what Apple sold in 2007, with what Google sells in 2018. Different eras.
Like comparing an up and coming swimmer's personal bests to Mark Spitz's records from 1972, when you should be comparing them to Michael Phelps's times from 2016.

  • Swype add-on keyboard discontinued, pulled from iOS App Store

There are lots of third party keyboards available.  Swype was not the only one.  And not even the only swipe style keyboard.   For example, I use SwiftKey on a regular basis.   It is also a swipe style keyboard.

Just because Nuance decided that this was not a business for them does not mean all non Apple keyboards have failed.
I don't think anyone here is saying that it was the only one. However it was one of the more popular ones. Since Nuance decided to suspend both iOS and Android development, then maybe these 3rd party keyboards aren't all they're hyped up to be. That's the only argument being made.

So the way I understand this is that these 3rd party keyboards aren't as popular as Android evangelists claimed they were before iOS also got them. I remember the endless ranting on how many couldn't live without them on the Android side and them deriding iOS for being so closed.
