Beyonce's 'Lemonade' album hits Apple Music, moves out of Tidal exclusivity
In rare cases listeners can even access "master-quality" tracks streaming at 96 kilohertz and 24 bits -- something only high-end speakers and headphones can take advantage of.
Not true.
So far, not a single human has been able to reliably tell 96/24 from 44/16 when both files have been created from the same master with proper dithering. Many have tried. Search for ABX audio test on the web.
96/24 makes sense in the studio where it provides extra headroom for signal processing. Once there is a final mix, anything beyond 44/16 serves marketing purposes only.
BTW, the "test" that Tidal published many years ago to push their premium service, was manipulated. Listeners did NOT compare two renderings of the same track in a true ABX manner.
