I'm good with this focus. Build a strong foundation. But...the rest of the industry will progress a lot over the next two years...before major new features will be released...hope this doesn't catch Apple off guard.

I guess minor is relative. If they keep the price the same but replace the A9 era processor with an A11, more RAM, and more storage, that would be a pretty major upgrade to the phone.

These ARM chips are secondary and supplemental in nature, not doing the heavy lifting, and that’s a great role for them. I could certainly imagine a MacBook (not Pro) someday running on a “A15” chip in a few years as the primary processor, sure ... it and the MBA are light-duty machines. But not In the pro and desktop line, at least in the foreseeable future.

Apparently the A11 chip is outperforming my 2016 13" MBP...according to reported benchmarks...which is kind of shocking...so perhaps for lower end MBP machines they have already reached parity...but what's to stop Apple from creating a 12 or 24 core version of the A11 that compares to high end MBP machines?

Who knows if the reports are true. But what I do know is that as an avid Apple fan, the is the first year since the introduction of the original iPhone where I didn't "wish" I had a new iPhone (from my current iPhone 7) when they were released. It's a combination of my iPhone 7 just being so good, the iPhone 8 providing little additional improvements, and the higher price points of the iPhone 8 and iPhone X seemingly providing poor value. I expect I'll hold onto my iPhone 7 through next year...don't anticipate anything in the pipeline at a reasonable price point (<$750 w/ 128GB or more) that will change my mind (unless Apple surprises).
