  • macOS Big Sur telling Apple what app you've opened isn't a security or privacy issue

Article points out numerous security and privacy issues but seeks to diminish them using highly dubious reasoning. Headline is inappropriate.

Yes it very much is an issue and Apple should know better.
As usual you provide your obtuse anti-Apple BS right on queue, and are usually first to comment, I think you must be getting paid to provide first-in-line negative responses to pour your special brand of gasoline on a non-existent Apple fire, good god...

macOS Big Sur telling Apple what app you've opened is both a security and privacy issue if the users consent was not requested or given, period. No amount of sugarcoating will put apple in a credible public defensible situation on this.
No amount of sugar coating is required here, as nothing macOS is transmitting is of any relevance, or could be constituted as PII (personally identifiable information). The author of this AI piece is correct, ISP's collect VASTLY larger amounts of PII about us than Apple, as do scummy ad agencies like Google.
I won’t be upgrading to this mess anytime soon.
There is no mess to avoid, you're just listening to fear mongering from ONE overtly paranoid security "expert" who just wants to start another anti-Apple shit storm and forgot to mention what I just did above.

  • Apple's claims about M1 Mac speed 'shocking,' but 'extremely plausible'

Comparing mobile chips to the likes of 10900K...that is extremely laughable.
    Yes, laughable...

We got desktop computers (with hefty cooling solutions) running at 80C+ during CPU/GPU intensive tasks, but we’re supposed to believe iPhones/iPads/Mac Laptops are able to run the same programs without undergoing a full meltdown. Yeah, okay. I love my Apple devices, but don’t get ahead of yourself there, buddy.
That's why AnandTech is a respected web publication that does deep dives into processors and you're just a guy on the internet with absolutely nothing but irrational hate to back up your claims.

You know that you can go to AnandTech's website to see why the Apple A13 scored a 63.3 on the SPECiint2006 test, right? Of course, that takes a little effort on your part so I guess I shouldn't hold my breath.
I build my own systems, I benchmark my own systems, and I run real world tests on those systems. I have enough years of experience to back up my claims. All you’re doing is employing your appeal to authority fallacy and nothing else.
And you think that your one-man-show approach is better than Anandtech with an entire STAFF of professionals and a full LAB of testing gear?

My GOD your arrogance and stupidity just showcased themselves with a damned spotlight! What a freaking idiot...

  • John Hodgman returns to critique Apple Silicon advancements

I was LOL'ing so hard when I saw Apple bring him back for a encore reprisal of his old ad role, just priceless!

And what a way to stick it to Intel! The M1 is their first, and probably entry-level SoC, and it's already poised to hand Intel's (and AMD's) ass(es) to them!

Can't wait to see what the future holds for Apple!

  • Apple's macOS Big Sur features tighter integration with new Apple Silicon

    MY WALLET IS ON FIRE!!!

But, I won't be getting any of them just yet for two reasons...

A ) I want to see how well the transition to Apple Silicon code is by third-party devs
B ) The new M1 MBP only has 2 TB/USB4 ports, which is a downgrade I cannot afford since I regularly use all four ports on my current Intel rMBP

I'm guessing the reduction of port capacity is an issue with Intel's TB/USB4 spec fitting into the new SoC package, or some licensing issue.

I'll wait for the next generation of machines (probably next year) to see if they bring back the two lost ports, and check in on devs transition, before making the plunge.

Was there any doubt?  Imagine what computing would look like today if there had never been Apple.
You have already posted more than 19000 times on this page. If you just read from time to time also other sites, you would have known that this time Apple copied Samsung. But I accept that in your case it is simply too late to convince you from anything.
Yup, 110% Scamsung troll, please GTFO
