Video: Nvidia support was abandoned in macOS Mojave, and here's why
That has become a particular sore spot for me: I love the Mac, and I really go out of my way not to touch lesser hardware. Trouble is, my research heavy lifting is done through Matlab, and Matlab GPGPU is CUDA only.
As it stands, I’m limited not to enjoy the whole benefits of an expensive toolbox from Mathworks, because of vendor policies.
There are a lot of blame to share: Mathworks for only supporting CUDA, Apple for being strong headed (sometimes), Nvidia for dropping the ball all those years ago (souring the relationship), and myself for being prejudiced about crapware... -
Popular iOS apps use Glassbox SDK to record user screens without permission [u]
Every time there’s pushback about the “huge” amount of control Apple exercises over their platform, and ultimately, their users, we get wind of information that it is not controlling it enough.
How could an app be approved with so blatant a privacy violation. To monitor and report back on keyboard input and screen content!?!? -
Apple's shutdown of Facebook's internal apps was a light punishment for a repeat offender
Some reactions (on both sides) were way over the top here. Facebook did wrong with the enterprise certificate, so it got revoked. That was a good thing. The fact that FB was doing that to minors is a matter to the police agencies.
Is Apple more light handed to big apps in their platform? Yes they are. That’s a question for Apple leadership to decide. It’s funny though that they get to be attacked for “policing the internet” and “not doing enough” over the same issue.
In the interim, if you want to shut down your FB account, good for you! If you want to leave iOS, good riddance! -
Google is violating Apple's iPhone app privacy rules the same way Facebook did [u: disable...
wood1208 said:Apple, you are business and while holding privacy Ethics torch, at the end of day you are a business to make money for shareholders and employees. Stop this die-hard privacy triumph. Most people outside USA(may be some Europeans) don't even care privacy long as you sell your products and services cheap. Sorry, Money talks, walks, and everything else for most people in world...How many people on Apple products related websites like Apple-insider,9to5Mac,MacRumers,etc come and say give me privacy at any cost ? Most say, Apple products are expensive even thought they like to own. -
Apple has revoked Facebook's enterprise developer certificates after sideload violations [...

Let's see which company will go bankrupt first.Protecting privacy is important, but iOS users' experience on Facebook apps should not be affected.Though some won't mind, sure many iOS users will complain if they cannot visit Facebook on their devices.Apple is overreacting.
Rest assured that the FB app on your (supposedly you have an Apple device—although I doubt it) iPhone (or whatever) will keep working. And that is a loss to everyone around you.
