  • If you don't want to delete your Facebook account, here's how to cut back

I've deleted the apps from my iOS devices (and removed the OS integration on my iPad 2, stuck on iOS 9, where that is still a thing) about two weeks ago, before this whole debacle. Not only I was able to get back a huge amount of storage (particularly important on my iPhone SE 16GB), but also I've come to realize that my work routine flows better. I can't say anything about battery life because I've never enabled Facebook to keep updated on the background.

Now, once a day, only if I remember to do it, I open Facebook on my Mac, enforcing strict rules about cookies and Javascript, to keep up do date of the 10 % of my feed that actually is of some interest to me (and I have less than 200 friends in it, unlike most people).

I'd rather delete the whole thing, but my wife prevented me for doing so, and I didn't thought it worth the hassle...

  • Editorial: The mysterious curse of iPhone 6, lifted with... the headphone jack

I've said this here before, but I'll say it again: Nilay Patel is absolutely ridiculous (dear God... spike bracelets!!!). I had absolutely no idea how Walt Mossberg put up with the guy in his last years, before retiring. Though Mossberg had his fair share in promoting technological turds (even to the point of comparing them to Apple products, as in the same ballpark), he never was critical to Apple just for the sake of it.

  • Guns N' Roses' singer Axl Rose compares Apple CEO Tim Cook to Donald Trump

Hey Axl, you're alive (and still on drugs by the look of it)! I liked your screamed songs way back, before I matured my taste (or some would say, developed a taste).

No person, company or service is perfect, but going after the best paying service for music streaming and downloading makes you appear even more out of touch with reality (one of the side effects of drug abuse). Besides, I'd wager that Tim Cook isn't the hands on executive on the deals Apple have with music labels, that would be Eddy Cue.

So keep to your strongs man! Soon there'll be another Rock'n Rio for you to cackle to a big audience again. Some of them will even like it!

  • Samsung's Galaxy S9+ trumps Apple's iPhone X in latest DxOMark benchmark

Here I was, thinking that DxOMark’s assessments were already being established as paid advertisement! There is absolutely no science, or any kind of unbiased method, at all, behind their “evaluations”.

I know it’s a fine line to thread, but in these cut and dried cases, AI editorial staff could elect to ignore “news” of this kind.

  • Apple has long-term plan, is working on products 'way out in the 2020s'

It's news when Apple stops investing in R&D.  This is a fluff-piece.

No doubt some could call the original article a fluff-piece. Nevertheless, it is newsworthy, because it offers some insight into the company and its leadership. If it was me, I'd grill Tim a bit more, about some troubles over the past few months, but that wasn't the tone of the interview. Real fluff-pieces are those articles, about some products, that are "good"—not great—and fail to address the elephant in the room, for the sake of personal/editorial agendas. Most Android enthusiasts would call us, Apple users and AI readers, fanboys being spoon fed fluff-pieces about Apple. But even though the tone in AI is more positive towards Apple than most publications, in more than 10 years reading it daily, I fail to remember even seeing a single fluff-piece.
