Failure of Pixel 2 exposed a larger problem: Google's ads don't work
Great piece, as usual, by DED! Good thing also that one could almost read through this one while holding his breath... DED does get long winded from time to time.
I’m sure am proud of myself of calling Dieter out on his tweet, so many months ago. I haven’t troubled myself with any of his “material” ever since—in fact, I pretty much abandoned The Verge... too many agendas (conflicted ones, on top of that) in there. -
Leaked memo suggests Nokia's health business is unhealthy
mrakoplas said:Honestly, I don't understand Nokia. It used to be #1 mobile phones company. Now it makes low-end androids and android iPad knockoffs. And because of some business whim it decides to buy perfectly working creative company (having absolutely different scope) just to kill it few months later? Why? -

NYT reporter uses megaphone to decry 'slow death' of 5-year-old iPad mini running iOS 9, a...
Still have my iPad 2, bought in May 2011. Almost 7 years of daily use, and its battery is in great shape!
The only trouble is some heavy websites crashing Safari. Being stuck in iOS 9 is a minor annoyance, but I was baffled that it was supported for so long! I can still remember the hype for iOS 5 update! -
KGI: Intel might be exclusive modem supplier for 2018 iPhone lineup, Qualcomm iced out
viclauyyc said:Can someone enlighten me if Apple can just buy Qcom? I mean when 2 companies are in law battles?
Buying Qualcomm will be a ill-advised use of money. All Apple would accomplish is buying into liability from various entities suing or investigating its practices! Also, a good slice of the money would be spent providing golden parachutes for Qualcomm’s top brass... you know, the geniuses who caused this whole mess.
So no, not worth saving! Let it heal itself, with a major management and business shake up, or crash and burn! For all we know, this Intel deal may be a stopgap measure. An Apple baseband modem is on the tea leaves for a long time now.
