  • US Treasury guidance could stop Apple from recouping Irish taxes at home

Apple has recently increased their tax payouts to deflect attention. It hasn't worked. GE, Tim Warner, Catepillar, Haliburton, and hundreds more are going to be paying more. Apple is the most visible brand in the world. It's the reason we are discussing them on an Apple Insider web site.

Yes we know GE got a tax refund to several billion. Close the loop-holes and every large conglomerate will divert those earnings into R&D and growth to avoid paying taxes, or create large dividends, and/or both for shareholders. That spurs growth far more than Apple hording money because the tax code is broken and they [and every other large corporation] can exploit it.

Your first paragraph made these statements in order:
    1. Apple increase their tax payments to deflect paying more taxes
    2. Cliché list of SJW boogeyman companies are going to be paying more soon.  (
    3. Apple is popular

    Your second paragraph:
    1. GE got a billion dollar tax refund.
    2. Close loopholes and companies will divert 'evil' profit to R&D and growth, and create large dividends for shareholders.
    3. Apple is hoarding money

    Rebuttals

    Paragraph 1:
    1. You are way early, it's not yet 4:20.  Maybe take it a little slower?
    2. Corporations are soon going to be taxed more... because Hillary? LOL! Because Trump? LOL!  Batman? Luke Skywalker?
    3. Duh, and so?

    Paragraph 2:
    1. This only matters if there's a bad reason for a refund?  It's in their regular public financial filings... go fetch!
    2. Isn't growth and paying dividends to shareholders, exactly what Apple's been doing?  Where have you been the last 15 years?
    3. How is that even remotely a bad thing?  I hoard money in my savings account too.  Apple is bigger and has more, but why should I give anyone my savings, why should Apple?  As a shareholder I see the vast advantages having that cash gives Apple.  Further as a shareholder, Apples assets are already valued into the price of my shares.

Here's the thing, you're a bigot. And like all bigots this means you're very ignorant.  You base your dislike of companies or people solely on how much money they have.  None of your statements even follow, because your rant comes from 100% poisoned, broken logic.

How about making computers for professionals again Apple? A Mac Pro that can be upgraded and doesn't look like a trash can would be nice.
Putting a bunch of extra crap in a box? Bulky, hot and noisy.

No thanks, the CPU core + external peripherals approach is better for professionals.
Need more CPU, change the core, keep the other boxes.

Also whisper quiet machine is more valuable than the ability to cram outdated PCI cards into a sockets.  Lots of iMacs in places where Mac Pros used to be required.

The latest Mac Pro is upgradable, from 4 to 12 cores, RAM and video capabilities as well.  Oh were you talking about third party upgrades later down the road after purchase? Yeah, no.  Serious professional uses of machines don't generally screw around and dick with upgrading.  They just buy new machines.  They also tend to prefer longer term, stable workflows.  The upgrade every second mindset is for the low level guys who didn't buy what they needed out of the gate.  Or gamers, and they are a non-professional niche.

When new Mac Pros are updated it will be in sync with how major professional users purchase machines.  For example, movie studios purchase hundreds of Macs at a time, some purchase them in the thousands.  Lots of employees and processes to adapt to new tech, and much more important to how Mac Pros are developed than the never-satisfied baby wants of forum 'enthusiasts'.

  • Feds, lobbyists draw battle lines over Apple's EU $14.5B tax bill

Funny, we never heard about this arrangement being unfair when Apple almost belly up in the 90's, under the same Irish tax laws.

  • Apple CEO Tim Cook calls EU tax ruling 'total political crap,' cites potential anti-US sentiment

Ireland has made deals like this since the mid 20th century with the airline industry.  It's an overwhelmingly agrarian based economy, as an incentive to attract more diverse industries, they offer tax incentives.

For the slower witted who find Cook's comments confusing or outrageous, this is because y'all ignorant of the finer details, and go shooting your fool mouths off like moralizing Puritan zealots, before learning a single thing past your lizard brain reflex.

This is Irish tax law, and Apple has fully complyied with it.  This is also a long standing practice, and the EU hasn't said a peep about this since the mid 1980s?  Fishy, considering Tim Cook has been meeting with both Democrats and Republicans, while talking about finding a way toward patriating those foreign earnings.

Translation for the still confused, angry and dim:  US tax code is broken, and foreign revenue is essentially taxed twice, the second at an outrageous level.  Apple's been working to reform that and get foreign assets home to the US, so pretty obvious Cook thinks the EU timing is suspicious (psssst... its been over 30 years).  Apparently the Secretary of the US Treasury said all this first.  Hardly controversial, unless of course you've replaced rational thought with poorly thought out, collectivist dogma.

  • Tim Cook's fundraiser for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton set for tonight

Either way, vote Clinton or Trump votes are merely a public affirmation that you're a partisan idiot.

Just do the right thing in November and vote Libertarian.  Everybody needs more Johnson.

I won't bother to get into his pretty remarkable record in Mew Mexico as a legislator, nor the fact he might be the only living politician who has ever effectively balanced a budget.

All you need to know are these advantages over Hillary and The Donald:
    1. He behaves like an adult
    2. He isn't a scumbag
    3. He's not a criminal
    4. He's not an idiot
