  • Google claims Android is "as safe as the competition" despite its outdated install base

Wait I got this. In the past Android prevented few installs of PHA and now this last year they prevented 10 million installs. That is very high rate of growth, if you extrapolate that rate of growth out over a forever timeline then Android will eventually be blocking an infinite amount of PHA, so essentially they have already won this race. Look I am not dissing Apple and propping up Android with strawman arguments; Apple can’t top infinity exponential growth, that’s science.
And here I was, all ready to make some devistatingly ironic comment about Orwell calling to get his book back, but you beat me to it!
Completely agree! Apple can never have the security of Android now!

  • Android Wear changes name to 'Wear OS by Google'

Just like MS changing names: shit by any other name smells just as much.

  • France plans to take Apple and Google to court over 'abusive commercial practices'

In other news, France today has decided to create a new open-source platform based on BSD and UNIX called 'iFrance', where any and all commercial interests relevant to the country must be vetted for compliance to French law, effectively creating a walled garden for its economy. The Verge was noted as being the first blog to erupt in umbrage, yet the Germans have already trademarked 'iDeutsche'. More details at 11!

  • Refurbished, high-end iPhones are suffocating the growth of cheap new Androids

Once again, Dilger hits the nail on the head. Apple has long been 'recommended' to move into the lower markets, long before it even began selling iPhone. Apple only works on profitability, and it seems to me that refurbs are Apple's way of moving mid-teir. Selling last year's model for a small discount was the best way to move downward, but to also keep the customer base growing. But Apple's most significant business solution to a saturated market, I reckon, is the huge investments Apple's made in Services. Whereever or whenever what ever model iPhone is bought, the App Store, iTunes etc etc all provide a revenue stream back into Apple. Apple has done fantastically well to not only plan all this out, but to execute the plan extremely well. I can not see any competitor arising for Apple within the next ten years.
