  • Bluetooth in iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max reportedly causing audio connectivity issues

have issues in both my cars with my iPhone Xs. I did an enhanced logging session and was able to capture multiple events of drops and submitted the logs yesterday. Hopefully it helps.
How’d you do that? I’d like to do the same but didn’t know it “was a thing”...

  • Bluetooth in iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max reportedly causing audio connectivity issues

Unfortunately I’m in this situation with my 2014 Subaru Crosstrek. My old 7 Plus worked fine with iOS12 but the new XS Max does not...at least not automagically. I have to, each time I turn on the car, manually connect it from the phone via Settings - Bluetooth - Connect and then, most of the time it’ll work, but every once in a while it’ll take 2 or 3 tries or will randomly disconnect. I don’t blame Apple but by the same token, a vehicle manufacturer releasing a firmware update for a head unit and having an update procedure the owner can do by themselves is far more difficult and problem-prone than if Apple can put out a dot-patch fix.

Over lightning its its fine but then I lose call ability.

  • Apple unlikely to include Lightning-to-headphone jack converter with 2018 iPhones, analyst...

My adapter only serves one purpose and that is for Air travel.  I have a pair of BeatsX, but of course they are wireless and have no way to interface with the airplane's entertainment system.  I have an aging pair of Apples In-Ear Headphones that I take on airplanes.  I need the adapter so that I'm not fumbling with one set of headphones (BeatsX) when I'm doing something on my iPhone and another when I'm watching a movie on the seat-back system.  I can easily use the same headphones and just add/remove the adapter as needed.  Other than that, I literally have no use for the adapter and it lives in my travel case that only is packed for trips.
Delta (and some other airlines) has been improving their in-flight systems to stream most (though not all for some dumb licensing reasons no doubt) of the films/shows to in flight apps.  Eventually streaming will completely replace expensive in-back systems and even this use case will fade away.
How does the currently bundled adapter help on a plane? The end is a male lightning connector which won’t plug into any flight entertainment system. What you’d need is the opposite of what Apple provides - a female lightning to male 3.5mm headphone jack. I travel a fair bit and in my checking this apparatus doesn’t exist as it would be expensive to create (due to multiple analog/digital/analog conversions as I understand things). Far cheaper to just carry the old 3.5mm EarPods just for the plane. That’s what I do (along with my AirPods). I’d looked at the 12South AirFly but pricing on it is a bit strep in Canada and the reviews haven’t been stellar (unless anyone here has first hand positive experience with it or another brand BT transmitter with 3.5mm jack for use on flights paired to AirPods???)

  • 'Full Throttle Remastered,' 'Layton's Mystery Journey' arrive on iPhone, iPad

“I’m not putting my lips on that.”

I’m going to have to download this now. Full Throttle was a great game, and arguably the best implementation of the SCUMM interface. The only problem is I know how it ends.
The only SCUMM game I'd put ahead of this was Day of the Tentacle - shear brilliance of 90s gaming (and with the voice work of Richard Sanders AKA Les Nessman - also remastered & released by Double Fine). This (Full Throttle) has a superior soundtrack and Mark Hamill doing some voice work as well as some arcade-style gaming thrown in with the adventure theme. A fantastic game and well worth the CAD$6.99 price tag. Definitely downloading this without question.

Now I'm holding out for the old Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry series...

  • Earin combats Apple's AirPods with new M-2 truly wireless earbuds

I know a guy who has the Earin M-1s (I think they're M-1s - he bought them through their Kickstarter a little over a year ago). He really likes them, but after watching him use them I notice a few things compared to the AirPods:
    1) The battery life isn't as good - probably because they're smaller with no "stems" so smaller battery
    2) Setup isn't nearly as slick as the AirPods which, while a small thing, is truly great
    3) Charge time in the case is much longer than the AirPods - about 2x longer to charge
    4) Case has a smaller battery as well

I'll say though that the M-1s don't look great, but the picture above of the M-2s actually look very decent. Also wishing the AirPods came in black now...
