  • Apple TV+ cancels 'High Desert' after only one season

I watched two episodes and I just couldn’t go on. Arquette just had unearned super detective powers. The “secret drug addiction” trope is as overused now as quicksand was back in the 60’s-90’s. House, Nurse Jackie, Breaking Bad, etc.

and like House, Arquette just walks in like this Sherlock Holmes super hero and gets the job done. How did she become like that? The whole show wanted to be a dark comedy, but to me it came across as campy tropes that made me roll my eyes.

  • Zuckerberg's Apple Vision Pro hot take just gave him a Ballmer iPhone moment

I’ve had a few days to think about the AVP. It’s still too expensive for a consumer device, like how they presented it in their reveal. I’d want at least two of them to enjoy with family, but not for $7k…

Personally, I don’t do any work at home because my work laptop is a PC and the work isn’t techie enough to need huge screens. I’m definitely not the target audience. However, it would be interesting to have one on an airplane because I travel internationally a LOT. I’d like to have one screen for a movie and a smaller screen for emails that come in from my iPhone. At home, it would be cool to have recipes up while I cook or manuals while I work on stuff. But my iPad serves that niche for a magnitude less…

  • Apple rolls out improved Maps to all users in the US

All I want is to be able to download maps offline. I have dodgy spots on my commute and have to resort to Google. But CarPlay (obviously) works best with Apple Maps.

    I guess I’ll keep waiting...

  • How to select, copy, and paste text in iOS 13 and iPadOS 13

Gods, if ever there was an article that needed a video to go along with it, then this was it.

  • Best Buy to shutter mobile phone stores as customers flock to wireless carriers, Apple sto...

I went into Best Buy a month ago to get the iPhone X because I wanted to use my Best Buy Credit Card for the free warranty and all that. Turns out the 256gb version that I wanted was $1260, a little over $100 more than MSRP which I could get anywhere else. The cell phone sales guy couldn't tell me why it cost more at BB, which also sorely needs the business.

A week later it hit me. BB gives rewards bucks which is about 10% of the purchase price, so BB bumped up the price to avoid handing out 10% off. But what I can't reconcile is why? If I had bought a toaster, video games, whatever that amounted to $1260, I'd still get 10% back as in-store rewards bucks. So if BB didn't want to lose that narrow profit margin to the 10% back, didn't they consider that they would gain it in the profit margins of whatever else I buy in-store? Like phone cases, screen protectors, games, headphones, etc.?

So long BB, you've lost any incentive I've had to use your CC. I just bought it at Apple anyway with my bank's CC.
