I'm looking for options in the class of the Z623's. Looking for 2.1 Sound, mostly for music, small amount of video, ~$100 - $150 range for my Mac Mini.
If 2.1 connected to a Mini is what you are looking for then the Z623 is a very good choice. I picked up my set for $110 in 2014 and they are superb for computer use. Quality sound, decent bass and lots of power. The only things in this class that come close in sound are the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 and Bose Companion 5 Series 2 (I think the Bose is discontinued), but those will be about double the price of the Logitech. The Z623 is a home run in my opinion.
I was reading some of the reviews and a couple people said the right one (I think) started hissing after a while. You ever have that issue?
Zero problems with mine. 99% of the time it's connected to my work computer by the 3.5mm jack on the subwoofer and the other 1% to my iPhone through the auxiliary 3.5mm connector on the side of the right speaker.

  • New Apple TV app coming to third-party smart TVs, streaming devices this spring

How is my privacy going to be protected on Smart TV that track user habits by default?
If that's a concern for you (and it should be), turn off all the Smart TV features and remove internet access from the TV. Then go buy an Apple TV and plug your internet access into that. Problem solved!
That's my plan.  Apple TV 4K on every TV in the home.  Plus I just realized that most TV just have Fast Ethernet so you're dealing with a TV that can't stream anything beyond 100Mbps.  That being said the bell maybe tolling for hardware Apple TV.
A 4K Bluray has a rate of ~50 Mbps. Any current 4K smart TV has no need for beyond 100 Mbps. Why would it need gigabit Ethernet? The only case I could imagine where a TV needs a faster rate than 100 Mbps would be if it can display higher resolution/frame rate than the current panel -- which essentially means you have to replace that TV to obtain it.

  • Comcast's Xfinity Mobile simplifies phone number theft with default '0000' PIN

IIRC it's not nearly that easy to setup Apple Pay on a new iPhone -- at least with the two bank/credit card accounts that I use. Samsung seems to care much less about security and more about selling phones that can't be upgraded after about one year.

Still not available in the UK.   Apple need to push the UK medical council to grant approval.
Which is somewhat surprising. The US Food and Drug Administration controls this and they were actually somewhat fast to approve it, and without needing a prescription. Usually they take a very long time.

Most ECG monitors aren't worn for long enough periods to catch AFibs that occur outside of their usual monitoring period of 1-2 weeks -- and the rental on those will usually pay for an AW4. It's good that the AW can be worn literally for years almost continuously.

Shouldn't there be an OS or even SMC/firmware level protection for the speakers?
