  • Trump expects Apple to build manufacturing plant in Texas

Looks like all that ass kissing Tim has been doing with Trump for the last 3 years has been for nothing.
It delayed the tariffs for three damn years. Three years of profits and dividends that went into my account. “Tim” (I didn’t know you know him personally “Bob”) is the king of the global supply chain. Him and his team have back up plans already drawn up including moving manufacturing to other countries.

On another note, any “jobs” being brought back to the United States are going to be robots. Chinese factories including Foxconn for years been having trouble getting Chinese citizens to fill in these soul-killing factory jobs. Guess what, Chinese people are just like us and want a good life too. Foxconn is filled with robots and that’s where’s it really going, so much of what’s been discussed in this thread is just useless.

Oh, and most of these robots are being built in Japan.

Unless it’s a union, factory or production or service jobs suck. Here in Silicon Valley, American-born citizens and their kids refuse to work in car washes, fast food places, 7-Elevens, etc., it’s mostly Indian and South American born. Not a whole a lot of American born washing dishes or picking fruit either as it’s beneath them. And all those jobs are going to disappear too - EVERYWHERE in the world. You’re all talking about the WRONG issues.

    Texas, my ass.

Apple is completely delusional or just don’t plan on being a serious contender in original content. Anybody remembers Carpool Karaoke…???
Strange how people keep on mentioning that as if it's the ultimate, original rejoiner to why Apple wil fail in this venture. It's been said before, Apple was testing the business, and reality programming is the cheapest way to do so. It was best they spend billions out of the gate. I'm sure they've discussed internally why those shows didn't work out. You cannot build a business if you have no experience in failure and if you do not take risks,  The co-founder of Apple failed many times.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. And why does it seem like all of these kinda or even mostly successful people run off and start their own company? Seems like 99% of them never succeed!
Trying to in succeed in something you most likely/might fail in is what risk taking is all about. Apple’s co-founder failed many times.

  • Jony Ive's departure follows years of dissatisfaction and absenteeism

Shame, I actually think he's just a guy missing his old friend Steve and was acting out when he didn't get the super-star attention he was used to getting.  Leadership is such a critical aspect of work that when you feel undervalued, it shows in unintended ways.  The other problem is that he was a top-level leader and he affected everyone working below him, so that's uncalled for.  I think it's probably best for him to step aside and let the company take on a different course.  Nobody is indispensable, it's time the other designers stepped up and filled those shoes.
This article was written primarily from the point of view of the design staff, so don’t make any absolute conclusions. Maybe Ive couldn’t change after his friend’s passing, but it looks like it was the design staff who couldn’t move on either. They’re adults, they were trained by the best. They didn’t need their full-time mentor anymore.

And if he was indeed spending a great deal of time designing Apple Park as the articles states many times, then obviously he didn't have time for his former duties. He is human.

And I would like to know about these sources who say they hardly saw him but claim to know how he was feeling. Nice way to treat a man who made the design team the stars of Apple.
