Apple Watch Series 7 ad focuses on calling 911 in an emergency
GeorgeBMac said:Unexpected things happen at unexpected times. That's why I replaced my original Apple Watch with a series 4 with LTE. I feel much safer with it. It's only off my wrist to charge while I have coffee & breakfast in the morning. I do not feel safe without it. Actually, that's one of the main reasons I would update to a Series 7 with LTE: 33% faster charging so it would spend less time charging and more time on my wrist. -
Apple quietly buying app ads that funnel users to the App Store, developers claim [u]
I think the developers missed the very first section of the developer guidelines (Paid applications agreement):1.1 You hereby appoint Apple and Apple Subsidiaries (collectively “Apple”) as: (i) Your agent for the marketing and delivery of the Licensed Applications
Apple really can’t win….one minute their commission is too expensive and nothing more than a credit card surcharge….next minute Apple is doing too much by advertising and directing users to their apps.
Are developers really that naive to think that Apple would provide advertising that directs users to a webpage vs the corresponding App Store page? -
Apple rejecting apps is unfair competition, declare rejected app developers
OutdoorAppDeveloper said:As an iPhone user, explain why I should not be able to use my iPhone to mine cryptocurrency if I really want to. The GPU on the iPhone 13 Pro Max is pretty beefy. It should be able to mine a little bit at least. Seriously, how dare Apple tell me what I can and cannot do with any computer I own, even my iPhone?
Yeah, I’m guessing you agreed to the terms though.
If you read it, you would see that you do indeed own the hardware, that isn’t in dispute. However, iOS is licensed to you and you agreed to use that software how Apple set forth. Now, you are free to put whatever OS on there that you want, and then use your device in any way that you want, but Apple isn’t obligated to make it easy for you.
As everybody on the interwebs loves analogies….you wouldn’t buy a sports car and complain that you can’t carry a 1T load in the bed - especially if the sales person explained that you couldn’t do it at the point of sale, and a pickup would likely suit your needs.
But to answer your specific question; if you want to mine crypto, you can apply for a developer account (which is free if you don’t intend to distribute on the App Store). Download XCode and you can write and run whatever code you like locally on your own device. Mine away instead of whine away. -
Epic Games files to appeal ruling in Apple lawsuit
aderutter said:“though the ruling did say that Apple wasn't a monopoly in the market”
I don’t think it did…
”The Court does not find that it is impossible; only that Epic Games failed in its burden to demonstrate Apple is an illegal monopolist.”

The Big Redesign Feedback Thread
I emailed appleinsider last week about those auto playing “Appleinsider TV” videos. I’m not a fan of websites presuming that I
a) want to watch the same video in every article that I read,
b) am in a situation where unexpected noise and visuals is acceptable or
c) want to use my available data/ bandwidth on such a thing.
As Apmiller, it was a usability nightmare on my 11” iPad. Sorry guys, but I also used 1Blocker to remove that element.
