    Why would Apple do that? Apple is not into vertical markets. AppleTV is a mainstream consumer product targeted primarily to media consumption. Game consoles are mature and established products. Buy a game console, and if you already have one then enjoy it. Your console producer can only sell one console per home, Apple can sell an AppleTV per every room per home. Why would it replace it with a product it would sell only one per home?
    What’s gonna be your excuse a few years from now when Apple TV runs A12X?

    The TCL 55P605 is Dolby Vision compatible(most in this article aren’t) for $599. Better picture than a lot of $1,000+ 4Ks. 

    TCL are a vertical manufacturer similar to Apple and I read that may be how they keep prices low.

    I don't think that 4K will do something for the ATV as a gaming device.  Sony, MS and Nintendo already control the market, and looks like it will be this way for many years.

    Nokia, Blackberry and Motorola already controlled the phone market and Apple would never get in!!

    Casio, Rolex and Tag Huer already control the time piece market no way Apple will sell a single Watch!

    take into account the duds from Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony lately and Apple has 0% chancee!!!!
