  • Health insurer Aetna to offer customer & employee discounts on Apple Watch

And this is how you know Apple Watch will have a real impact on peoples health. If there's one group of people who run the numbers on everything to determine risks and benefits it would be insurance companies. They're betting that even the small things that could be done on an Apple Watch (medication reminders or tracking movement) can add up to make a meaningful impact both one peoples health and on their bottom lines.
    yup

tens of thousands of people get seriously ill or die from forgetting to take their medication.

That feature plus the SOS emergency feature is enough that any elderly person should have an Apple watch
That elderly person is still going to have to remember to charge the AppleWatch every night which might be a problem for some if they can't remember to take their medication. Don't think this subsidy program is going to dispel any doubts by Wall Street how the AppleWatch is a failure. This program isn't going to mean anything for a product they've already determined in their minds as being useless.
why wouldn't your pretend elderly person remember to charge their pretend watch when then can remember to charge their pretend phone? you know, the device it's an accessory to and dependent on?

daily charging isn't a problem. let it go.

Basically they put this inside the iPhone over a 3.5mm Jack. Not the compromise I think most consumers would like to make.
the iPhone 7 has OiS, a large battery, a non-moving home button (decreasing a point of failure) and if I recall a larger earpiece speaker (no claims this is an exhaustive list), all which require more space.
If we have to remove this "old port" @nolamacguy doen't need, can I have 10% larger battery which by my rough calculations you would get by removing these 2 bits of tech?
ok so you're an EE now? what mobile devices do you build? what are you credentials such that we can weigh your words as anything other than some random dude on a rumors site with random "rough calculations"?

and you're really saying Dan Riccio, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, is a liar?

“It was holding us back from a number of things we wanted to put into the iPhone,” Riccio says. “It was fighting for space with camera technologies and processors and battery life. And frankly, when there’s a better, modern solution available, it’s crazy to keep it around.”

"Even better, removing the audio jack also eliminated a key point of ingress that Riccio says helped the new iPhone finally meet the IP67 water resistance spec Apple has been after for years"

    ....so yeah, cool story bro.

the hell you say. apples own VP of engineering already said very clearly -- better cameras and image processor, bigger battery, water seals.

i prefer this comprise to an old port i don't need. now stop complaining.

  • Apple, Silicon Valley raised millions to fund Hillary Clinton platform backing tech's positions on

And what about tax policy? One of Hillary's economic advisors, Joe Stiglitz said "Here we have the largest corporation in capitalization not only in America, but in the world, bigger than GM was at its peak, and claiming that most of its profits originate from about a few hundred people working in Ireland — that’s a fraud ... Our current tax system encourages companies to keep their money abroad, opens up a vast loophole through what is called the transfer-pricing system that allows them not only to keep their money abroad but, effectively, to escape taxation." He seems to say that Apple is transferring US income to Ireland, which has never been shown to be the case, rather EU income has been transferred to Ireland. Are we sure we can trust the Clintons?
And yet, that's a Clinton advisor, not Clinton herself.

Trump himself claimed Apple doesn't pay taxes, and on top of that says he will dictate that Apple moves its manufacturing to the US, which is simply impossible and the ravings of a cartoonish simpleton.

So really, who do you trust: a politician seeking to incrementally improve upon the status quo, or a charlatan con man lying and boasting and stroking off racist white supremacists?
And Hillary says raising taxes on the rich and corporations will pay for all of the free things she wants which is impossible.
I find the prospect of a Clinton presidency far more terrifying than Trump. I am seriously considering taking early retirement, selling all my stock and refuse to contribute further to the predatory state. The twisted logic of the socialists, progressives and collectivists have irretrievably damaged this country.
yes, the twisted logic of equal civil rights for all, and closing unbalanced tax policies for the vey wealthy compared to the working class...horrible!
