Too bad Apple didn't have a dedicated, always-on Siri appliance before I bought my three Amazon Echo devices. I've grown quite fond of them.

I still don't understand the benefit of an Echo.

Could you not do the same thing with your phone? I don't see the point of having something plugged into a wall, instead of your phone or watch.

IMO, the Echo seems like a move backwards
Echo doesn't require you to look at a screen. I still don't completely get the need but Apple makes most of its money selling hardware so I guess they feel they need another new hardware product to sell?
Can't you use Hey Siri without looking at the screen?

You can do everything with an iPhone and a bluetooth speaker that Echo does.

I don't get the point of Echo. Its a step backwards. A bulky, wired solution in a mobile and wireless world.
Siri can't set the temperature on my Nest thermostat. Echo does.

Siri can't operate my LIFX bulbs. Echo does.
wait...so because some hardware vendors are too lazy to implement HomeKit, thats apple's fault? seems to me you're faulting the wrong player...id be upset that google won't fix their Nest. many are. i won't be buying another one.

Siri will have to get drastically better for a product like this to be successful. This is embarrassing: image Just this morning I asked Siri "when is the World Series" and Siri replied "sorry I couldn't find any games or schedules matching your request". For a device like this to be useful and successful voice assistant has to be top notch. Siri has a long way to go.
if theres something siri doesn't know then i try "google when is the world series" came up with web result of my answer. the fact that siri doesn't know everything isn't a deal breaker to me, since there are alternative queries that give me my answer. sure some people are into baseball or pro sports but I'm not. guaranteed there are queries I'm interested in that siri will never be programmed for.

As long as Apple sells macs with 128GB of storage, or macs with TN panels, or macs that aren't SSD only, or iPads from before 2015, this product fits right in.
I just can't understand how the company that makes the best products on the planet (6s, 7, SSD 5 and 4k iMac, etc.) can also make the worst, more overpriced, piece of sh*t that damages their brand so much (all the products mentioned on the first paragraph + iPhone 6 with gimped RAM that guarantees a short useful lifespan, all iPhones between the 4 and 5s with their pathetic small screens, old Mac Pros, etc.).

I just don't get it. They might profit from it, but it damages their brand and user experience so much.
nonsense. those products might not be useful *to you*, but that doesn't mean they aren't useful to other people. thats the part tech nerds always forget about. social deficiencies, i imagine.

iPhone with gimped ram? get real and come off it. iPhones have the best longevity in the industry. always have. iPhone 4-5s had awesome screens and were in fact so popular that they re-released that size in the SE. so you got that wrong, too. don't feel bad tho, you aren't a pro at product design. apple is.

  • Some users complain about poor phone call sound on Apple's iPhone 7 & 7 Plus

Here's an out there idea... Why not call AppleCare instead of complaining to a blog? I know that's such a hard concept to comprehend, but maybe these people should try that first. The sound quality on my iPhone 7 is awesome. I have no complaints, and if I did, I would contact Apple about it first.
I did contact Apple about the issue and so have others.   In fact Apple has just blamed it on Verizon and said nothing is wrong.   I ended up just returning my 7 plus on AT&T and getting a regular 7.  The new phone works correctly.  In my case it wasn't a case or screen protect either.
so despite your claim that apple did nothing, they did, in fact, offer you multiple options to resolve your issue, and you chose one and resolved it. got it.

  • Apple FCC filing shows Apple TV-sized device with Bluetooth, NFC under review

Not sure why WilliamLondon and others think 4K is so long off. I got into it with him already. Pissing and moaning every time somone makes a suggestion that 4K would be a welcome addition for playback support are the only ones who make the discussion a drag. It's funny how somone mentions something innocuous like 4K and people like WL get their panties in a bunch. Relax bro. You don't have to buy into it.

please quote what messages you're referring to. what i read is a pro-4k guy getting bent out of shape for no 4k in ATV, and others explaining to him why it isn't there and won't be yet. thus the only person bent of shape is the original pro-4k whiner.
