  • Apple Pay dominated the world in just ten years -- but it has more work to do

I’ve always loved Apple Pay. It’s great! But there are quite a few people who don’t use it. These are
people who have iPhones. They are quite ignorant about it. No clue on how to use it nor do they know that it’s available. But the one thing that irks me! is that the vendors don’t even know how it works. For example! At Costco. They do take Apple Pay at the registers in store. But! At the gas pump ⛽️ it’s a different story. When you try to use your phone or watch. The gas pump says one moment. Then a msg pops up that I have to use the physical card instead. So I ask the attendant on duty why does the gas pump not take Apple Pay? He said it does. And I said no! It does not. So I demonstrated it to him. And when I did he said I was doing it wrong. He said I have to open the Costco app and scan the QR code with a laser scanner on the pump. I said that is not Apple Pay! It’s just a regular credit card transaction. Its does not go through Apple. He looked at me dumb founded. Not understanding what I was saying. So I was forced to do a regular credit card transaction. I feel that Apple can do a better job educating not only everyone who owns a iPhone but the venders who work the POS systems.

In my experience, at gas stations that have different prices for cash/debit and credit, the pumps always charge the credit prices regardless of what type of card I use. This happens whether I use Apple Pay or if i tap my debit card directly.

As someone who also uses a PC regularly, I would love the ability to use Apple Pay through a browser on the PC. Since I can buy things from Apple's site on my PC and get the same benefits as using my Apple Card as I would through Apple Pay, I would imagine it is technically possible. Many times I have added items to my cart on the PC then gone to my phone so I could complete the transaction using Apple Pay. If I see Amazon Wallet or PayPal on the site, I know they will accept Apple Pay through the phone.
I'm not sure I follow -- web site vendors can build checkout support for Apple Pay, akin to PayPal support. I use it on a regular basis. When I check out I select AP, and it pops up on my Watch or iPhone to confirm.

Interesting, I have never once seen an Apple Pay option when using a PC. Please let me know which site(s) offers Apple Pay through a PC. Would love to try it out. Thanks.

  • Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, & Magic Mouse may soon be upgraded with USB-C

It was inevitable, but hopefully, nobody is going to "rejoice" because a connector changes.

  • Cook says Apple wasn't first with AI, but will be the best

It’s always fun to hear Apple talk about the importance of getting all the little details right and then use HomeKit and the Home app.
I agree. HomeKit works great. Although, I know that's not what you were trying to say.
