Apple focusing on lower resolution screens to make a more affordable Apple Vision Pro
Why wouldn't one expect Apple to request bids and samples for multiple prototypes during development? This alone does not indicate where they are heading for a final product. The development team will try many iterations and eventually land on what they feel is the best combination of performance, cost and marketability. Maybe those 1,500 ppi displays will be dismissed upon trials. Or maybe there is no perceivable difference between 1,500 and 1,700 so the less expensive option is selected. Maybe neither work well and are both eliminated from consideration. -
Apple withdraws HomePod 18.1 beta 2 after reports of bricking
gatorguy said:Does there seem to be an unusual amount of Apple firmware issues in the past few weeks, some serious enough to that require them pulled? Maybe it's relatively common and I've just not noticed. At the moment, it's hitting a big range of Apple products.
These are betas for a reason.

Repair site praises new iPhone 16 line as the most repairable yet
blastdoor said:The only world I can imagine in which I care about repairability of an iPhone is a world in which the supply chain has been badly disrupted and I have to hold on to my iPhone for much longer than I had anticipated.
Unfortunately, that’s a realistic scenario
In addition, I can't even imagine a scenario where I wouldn't have Apple do the repair themselves.
