  • CVS Apple Pay rollout in US complete after long struggle with CurrentC

CurrentC had some lofty goals, and the sales pitch seemed like it was going to be great for merchants, but the problem was they were going up against the banks and it wasn't going to be easy for the consumer to use.

    https://www.applicoinc.com/blog/happened-currentc-platform-innovation-fails/
CurrectC has the benefit of taking money directly out of a persons checking account. To get around the 3% credit card transaction fee. That's great for them. But it sucks for customers. Because having direct access to your checking account using a ACH Payments, you don't have all the protections you would otherwise have using a Credit Card. Also the fact that you have to open up your phone, find and load a app for the store, and do the whole QR code scan thing is a hassle when Apple Pay is just so much faster. Who wants a bunch of business apps that you have to enter all your payment info into and then every time you go to that store, you now have to load that store app up so you can pay using QR codes.

I get the advantage of it. You don't need a phone with NFC, as in cheaper, lower cost phones. You just need a phone with a camera.

As for Wal-Mart, they are NOT going to stop using CurrentC anytime soon. The whole point for them is to hold onto that 3% as it's a lot of money with all their transactions and stores. How many people actually use it? Is there really any benefit going through all that trouble to use their App and pay with CurrentC? To me, at that point, it's simpler to just swipe my card. So they're not really saving themselves a whole lot of money. Maybe it's losing them money to have this setup? They are on the losing side.

Does it integrate into the Apple ecosystem? If not, then no thank you very much.
This comment leaves me dumbfounded.  Are you expecting to control your drone from a HomePod?
Aren't you using your iPhone or Android phone as the Display for this device to see where you're going? But I'm still now sure how your would Integrate into the Apple Ecosystem. What exactly does that mean? What exactly does he want?

  • After being killed by Apple, Palm branded devices coming back from the dead

Palm killed the Newton. Palm should rot in hell for that.
Steve Jobs killed the Newton as it was a money loser. But it also led Apple to the creation of the iPhone and iPad.

Now that Spotify has 80M so-called paid subs, they need to pull out the blanket and get rid of the free tier.
Given ad sponsored Radio is still a multi Billion $ business worldwide why would they want to do this?
The problem is Radio pays far less maybe even free in playing Music t get the music out there for people to hear. Ad's pay for the radio station to keep their doors open. On the other hand it costs quite a bit of money in streaming music over the Internet. All the MILLIONS of people streaming all that music for FREE is costing Spotify a ton of money. The Ad's are not covering the costs.

Spotify in fact hasn't made a profit since they first started. In fact they lose more and more money every year. They make more and more money every year, of course, but then they lose more and more money on top of that, keeping them in the Red year after year. They've lost a ton of money. They had it good when it was mostly them only streaming. At this point, they're now having to fight with Google as their default streaming app on Android phones and Apple Music as default on iOS devices. Spotify you have to go out of your way to download the app. So it's getting NEW users that is continuing to get harder to get. Unless Google Music or Apple Music isn't currently in whatever country. Spotify can still grab those. Price wise, they're all the same at this point.

It's all the FREE users dragging Spotify down. The problem is, all the money they've collected to keep paying for the service to run is based on the number of Total users. They are stuck at this point. They can't toss all the millions of FREE users off the platform. They would go bankrupt pretty quickly. But Keeping the Free users are just continuously dragging them down to not being able to make a profit. They can't win either way. If you think MoviePass is a Bad business Model, Spotify is much worse off.

They've been in the RED since 2008. 10 Years of losing greater and greater amounts of money every single year.

  • Magic Leap One mixed reality glasses launch in six U.S. cities

Magic Leap is an enemy of Apple. Apple will be entering this market soon. In the meantime, we must do whatever we can to destroy Magic Leap.
Why? Who cares! Few people are going to spend a couple grand on AR glasses and with so little real support. It's just way, way to costly. It's like the $1500 Google Glass that didn't sell. If it was $199, great, it should have took off for what it was, but not at $1500. Few are going to buy these dorky looking $2,295.00 AR glasses.

Who says Apple is going to be in the market soon? Is that wishful thinking? Apple may be working on AR, but then they are working on all kinds of things. Some gets released other things don't. Depends if they think there's a market for it, and it'll sell.

You could slap a Apple logo on this AR thing and few are going to buy it at 2+ grand. Is there even a big enough AR market? Or is it about as dead as the VR market. Maybe they'll make a comeback once again in another 20 years. Who knows, but Magi Leap is not a enemy of Apple. That's just dumb. There's zero need to destroy Magic Leap,.. another dumb comment. Why? Again, they'll sell only a few of these things anyway. Did they do something to offend you? They have every right to make AR devices as anyone else does. They sure didn't copy Apple as Apple has nothing, and Apple I don't think would release something so ugly or at such a high price point. Not if they want them to sell.
