  • Photos of purported MacBook Pro chassis surface with OLED touch bar slot, four USB ports, no MagSaf

The OLED bar is a commercial banner bar. The new MacBook Pro will be free, with ads. ;-)

  • Apple CEO Tim Cook & Didi Chuxing's president tour Beijing Apple Store

On the Didi Chuxing deal, Cook reportedly said that Apple made its investment because Didi "has a very great management team," and "its objective is also environmental, hoping to help reduce pollutions [sic] by making more efficient use of cars."
I think, frankly, that the car project is a race against time for Apple. They probably want to offer a solution for China before everyone gets wealthy enough to own a car. Traffic in China is pretty bad enough as it is. It will break down if everyone gets a car. If Apple can make it desirable not to own a car, then they're onto something huge. Then, of course, the rest of the world is an untapped potential market for this Didi/ Uber mentality.

  • Review: Moxiware Apple Pencil Magnet is simple, affordable and functional

I think it's absolutely mysterious that the Apple Pencil doesn't just snap to, and charge from the iPad pro's smart connector. Of course it can't while the cover is connected, but for charging I think it's a very natural place.

  • Billion-dollar Didi deal seen as sign Apple's automotive interests go beyond just Maps

This is like the only thing that I ever hoped for when it comes to Apple moving into the car industry.  Tesla isn't doing anything for the environment. Sure, their cars runs on batteries,  but they're only pushing out even more single driver cars on the roads, pushing the already exploding level of traffic on the infrastructure.  Traffic is only getting worse, and it has to be solved.

If Apple's vision for cars in the future is to solve this, which I believe it is, then I applaud them for being bold and not being selfish, or clinging to the traditional role that the car has had for so long. Instead they seem to approach the mindset that the car should not have to be owned, but rather hopped on, hopped off when needed, like in Didi/ Uber.

Only a very non selfish organisation could embark on such a project.

  • Google's new 'Gboard' for iPhone lets you Google while you Google

I sense a lot of Google sceptics in here, he he. I think it's pretty clever, and I do see the usefulness. Apple hasn't done anything special since opening up the keyboards. Just that predictive typing thing... that at least I never ever use, but what do I know. Perhaps it's popular.
