Wow...Just wow AI...What absolute shit reporting once again. All i had to do was click on the the reddit user link YA'LL provided and spent 1 minute reading the comments to see that no one even mentioned it happening at "startup". This is a much bigger issue then what this article makes it out to be. 

You can check the firmware version of your AirTag via the Find My app on your phone. Once in Find My, tap the relevant AirTag, then tap the battery icon for the AirTag -- this will display the serial number and the firmware version.

No, I'm on the latest iOS and AirTag firmware and there is no battery icon to tap on unless you have a low battery. In fact, you just tap anywhere where it shows the tags name/location/datetime.

Yes that's exactly what Apple is saying. And that sucks. And we'll never know if it is truly a hardware limitation or an arbitrary cutoff.
