Apple responds to latest WikiLeaks CIA document dump, says iPhone and Mac exploits fixed
Apple also seemed to indicate that it wasn't pursuing getting the WikiLks doc dump because it was stolen.
IIRC the dumps til now were said to be a small percentage of Vault cache.
If true, Apple is flipping the bird at getting rest of dump if not already in public domain.
The Vault contents could already be in the possession of black hats. Apple's statement is high minded but seems to trade risk for ideological purity.
Couldnt Apple seek permission from a federal judge to accept dump docs? Possibly leveraging its news organization, or in a JV with NYT or WAPO or Walt Mossberg, to receive docs with 1st Amdt protections? Then Apple staffs as consultants to writer could analyze and plug holes before article is published. -
'Proton' Mac trojan has Apple code-signing signatures, sold to 'customers' for $50K

Wouldn't apple have an idea of the kinds of s/w related to any given developer? Or the kinds of functionality that the developer might be planning? -
MCX sells one-time Apple Pay challenger CurrentC to JPMorgan Chase

this is getting ridiculous.
My only concern is that we can eventually move from having to still carry our physical cards with us when a referential card number can used with a digital token to help protect us from potential theft.
Microsoft Pay
Pepsi Pay
FaceBook Pay
Wal Mart Pay(oops!)
NFL Pay
I hope it stops. Imagine if they make us have separate apps for them all? Then it's the cluttered wallet all over again.
I know Tag Heuer unveiled a watch that runs Android Wear so I assume that it will use Android Pay if it contains NFC and other necessary HW, but what about Swatch Group? It looks like the Swatch Bellamy will use a homegrown SW design so why should someone who buys a modernized Swatch Group watch from one of their many brands to include the benefits of a secure, NFC-based payment system on-board? It surely won't be a Apple Pay so what is so wrong with there being Swatch Pay that would allow this functionality? The same for Fitbit and other wrist-worn wearables. -

Sprint, T-Mobile merger under consideration again, given change in US regulatory climate
SpamSandwich said:Large mergers should not be blocked. This myth about preventing monopolies is simply nonsense. Monopolies happen when there is a LACK of competition and too much regulation created to favor Washington connected players, not when there is actual strong market competition.
Alternative reality field detected.
