Foxconn forcing sick workers to stay on iPhone production lines
lkrupp said:Who is this ‘Rest of World’ activist group? I’m not saying this is made up but these types of groups do tend to exaggerate claims made by workers, just like union organizers do. The truth usually lies somewhere in the middle. We do know that the dictator Xi Jinping went from zero-covid to don’t-give-a-shit seemingly overnight.
In either event brace yourselves for the usual anti-Apple drivel to follow an article like this one. And remember this article when you buy that gadget for your kid made in a factory just down the road from Foxconn. It’s not only Apple you know. It’s everybody who manufactures in China.
They're based in New York and are a tech news site.
You can even read their standards page: https://restofworld.org/about/ethics-editorial-policies/ -

OneOdio A10 ANC Headphones review: Great audio for those on a budget
retrogusto said:Odio means hatred or “I hate” in Italian and Spanish. Do marketing people not Google these things?
It's like the myth of the Chevy Nova (no vas)- a Spanish speaker would point out the words aren't pronounced alike at all. -
Man beaten, robbed of $95,000 worth of iPhones outside Apple Store
thrang said:wonkydonkey said:Strange. Apple stores don't normally sell to resellers. Usually resellers have to go through Apple's business channel to make large purchases.
I thought Apple didn't have many phones anyway with the meltdown happening in CHHHIIIINNNA....
We are 100% not allowed to sell to somebody if we know they are going to resell the devices at a profit.
The person could be a consultant charging for configuration services for their clients. That would be acceptable. Many of the local consultants separate those sides of the business and have us invoice directly to the end user. -
Tim Cook says Apple is being more cautious with new hires
thrang said:Amazing they are still hiring, if even at a reduced level, given other tech layoffs. Continues to show that Apple maintains such a different value proposition to its customers, and seem to be far better planning resource requirements and assessing market conditions than many others.
