BuzzFeed fires 15% of workforce, shuts down BuzzFeed News
williamh said:Was there a part of the company that reported actual news or is this about news like "19 Extremely Entitled Or Privileged Things Celebs Did And Tried To Pretend Were Normal"? If it's the latter, then they still have 85% to go. -
Sherlocking continues: Apple's interest is a 'kiss of death' to small technology firms
foregoneconclusion said:You can't really "steal" people. Apple and Google got into legal hot water for their own anti-poaching agreement, so poaching employees is generally considered to be more competitive not less competitive. I'm not sure that part of the story is really anything more than the standard dynamics of the business world.
The Allegation:
Step 1) Apple contacts small company claiming they want a partnership
Step 2) Apple abandons discussions
Step 3) Apple hires key personnel from those companies
Step 4) Apple releases a competing product which the smaller company thinks has their technology incorporated. -
Apple commits to 100% recycled cobalt in batteries by 2025

Apple demands that it have no big tech competitors near its Mumbai store
lkrupp said:Any reason to accept this “report”as factual? Has any corroborating news source confirmed or produced the alleged lease agreement? Is this based on “anonymous” sources? Notice the use of the word “reportedly” as a hedging term. Yet the usual suspects here are running off at the mouth with their usual anti-Apple agendas.
These kind of restrictions is pretty common in mall leases with large chains, although I don't recall them specifically naming brands. It's more commonly restrictions on product categories within a certain distance. -
If you're a Tesla owner, employees might be sharing your camera recordings
"For example, a Tesla was seen in a video from 2021 driving at high speed in a residential area and hiding a child riding a bike."
Hiding? Like, in the Frunk?
Seriously, thought - that's pretty messed up. They've probably watched footage from the interior camera (or perhaps that isn't streamed/saved).
