  • First Listen: HomePod is Apple's AirPods, enhanced for your house

Any information yet on whether or not the HomePod can be used with an iTunes Match subscription instead of having to subscribe to Apple Music?  If an Apple Music subscription is a must, this will be a deal killer for me.
Took the question right out of my brain. I wish they would have explained this.....I am out if I need Apple Music

  • Apple's iPhone credited with saving life in Manchester bombing

Fucking hate these assholes and their godamn bombs. Horrible reading that the nut came to rest in her nose, I'm sure the phone slowed it down at least. I hope Apple sees this and sends her a new one. Hope the best for the survivors...
Asshole is right. Manchester arena is a stones throw from where I grew up. To think that asshole picked this concert because he knew it would be a magnet for young innocent people, the all powerful all seeing omniscient god, except he needs dumb fucks to carry out his will??

It is incredibly sad that people take what is supposed to be a holy book that does not mention murduring civilians and twist it to fit their own ideology. It is interesting that smart phones make it easier for terrorist to chat anonymously yet (like the Boston bombing) easier to find them due to the sheer volume of pictures taken.

Samsung needs to figure out how to sell original note 7s to these monsters.....the problem would slowly take care of itself.

One final note: what if facial recognition becomes the primary way to unlock phones in the future. Image: terrorist ties iPhone to bomb as detonator. Apple hacks it and next time they login with recognition Apple has it detonate because their face was on a watch list!

  • Microsoft unveils new Surface Pro ahead of Apple Mac & iPad Pro refreshes

I feel that so many miss the fact that this is a brand new kaby lake i7 vs a custom designed, 2 year old arm chip. I just don't think 1.7x faster in this case is anything at all impressive...

  • Major apps abandoning Apple Watch, including Google Maps, Amazon & eBay [u]

I must say, I love my Apple Watch (had one since day one....well, massive delay day 1). However. I think Apple tried their hardest to make it something other than a fitness and notification device, but that is what it is. Don't get me wrong, I love having it for notifications and fitness. Using it for HomeKit is quite nice too. I also use it for Apple Pay exclusively. I tried eBay's app, news apps, games, etc. they just do not appeal to me at all. I love it for weather, quicker to glance at my watch for time, temp, and forecast than check my phone. Stuff like the news gives you a few sentences, which isn't very helpful to me. Games are tiny. Picture viewing (other than a watchface) is tiny. It just isn't an app device. I would love to see Apple move forward with the watch as a fitness and notification device. Adding sensors is fine with me, coming up with new and improved ways to respond to messages, or perhaps getting 1 email that doesn't say "this message displays elements Apple Watch can't display" would be awesome. I would love to use it with NFC to unlock my car door (obviously cars need to be equipped to do such). There are lots of ways to improve it, I just don't think 3rd party apps are the answer.
