  • Midea 8000 BTU U-shaped Air Conditioner review: energy efficient without sacrificing perfo...

On the Midea unit: Seems like they designed it upside down? The u-shape would have been more desireable if it put the inside and outside parts hanging below the window sill - opposite of what they have produced. There would still be a fairly thick "bridge" part that traverses the sill, connecting the inner and outer sections, but it would allow you to see out and even use the window.
The problem is that walls are a lot thicker than windows. Inverted-U A/C units exist, but the connection between condenser and air handling units has to be pretty long to reach both sides of the walls. And you can't be sure if there might be something below the internal window sill, like a radiator. It was better to design it this way, where you know there's nothing above the window sill. And actually, that is one of the selling points of the unit that you can open the window and get fresh air if you want, since it's supported by the bracket and there's open space on the sides. You can't do that with a regular window A/C if you don't have a bracket, since you need the window to hold the top of the unit.

  • Keychron Q5 Review: A full-sized mechanical keyboard in a compact shell

    The K5 is a low-profile full-size keyboard.
I said I want 96%, not full-size. Those put my Magic Trackpad too far to the right, making for a long reach.

  • Keychron Q5 Review: A full-sized mechanical keyboard in a compact shell

Based on my experience, I recommend brown switches. Reds are too soft and mushy and blues are rather noisy with their high pitched clicks.

Also, the problem with standard Keychron keyboards is that they're quite thick. You'll need a wristrest. I like my K3, which is one of their low-profile models. Too bad they don't have a 96% low-profile keyboard. I do miss having a numeric keypad.

  • Mac keyboard showdown: Apple versus chiclet versus mechanical

I bought a Keychron K3 and really enjoy it. It's one of their low profile models, which is good because their standard models are quite thick. I tried both blue and brown switches, finally choosing the brown because the blue was quite "clicky," read: noisy. I switch back and forth between the butterfly keyboard on my MBP and the Keychron on my iMac and prefer the Keychron, although the butterfly is quite acceptable. When I have a lot to type, I connect the Keychron to the MBP, which is easy because switching between any of three Bluetooth devices takes all of two keystrokes. Even use it with my iPad Pro.

It's great that they're configured for Macs by default. All the function keys work like they're supposed to and have the right legends for media functions, Mission Control, Launchpad, etc. It has proper Command and Option keys yet have a toggle on the back to instantly switch to Windows mode, with those keys swapped.
