  • Future iMac may pivot and rotate automatically for good ergonomics

This would only work with smaller iMacs. I'm not convinced anyone would be interested in a portrait 27" or larger screen. And if they did want that much height, it would be much easier to just get a Mac mini and a 55" monitor in a static landscape orientation.

This brings up the question of why Apple is still using Intel CPUs when AMD CPUs are at a minimum comparable in terms of speed and cost. They're both x86 and both can run macOS so why is Apple sticking with Intel?

Drivers. Hackintosh'es aim to replicate real Mac Configs, so as to minimize any incompatibilities.

In the case of AMD sure the CPU is x86, but things like SATA Controller, Northbridge/Southbridge, LAN, Sound, will all differ for AMD machines and need drivers.
To be fair, his question is not why don't Hackintoshes use AMD, but why Apple doesn't. I'm sure they could work out the software support for AMD chipsets if they wanted to.

  • Apple transition to own ARM chips in Macs rumored to start at WWDC

We all hope that Apple realizes that their product line is not like Highlander. There can be more than one product, with significant overlap in features and customers, at a certain price tier for a certain market, but also have significant differences that drive sales to other customers.

As somebody else noted, ARM drives iDevices, so Apple should use this to bring back an iBook line, not phase out the MacBook. The two can co-exist with developers going forward deploying software using a new universal binary that works with both Intel and ARM.

  • Security researchers warn of scam VPN apps on iOS

Why not use 1.1.1.1, Cloudflare's free VPN app and service?

Although I know of one IT consultant who is a little too arrogant about his own knowledge. I had 1.1.1.1 set as the DNS on my personal MBP. He didn't know what it was. When told it's Cloudflare's servers, he claimed it's not and said they're offshore and dangerous. Yeah, they're so dangerous that Mozilla changed recent Firefox releases to automatically default to 1.1.1.1. I hate IT know-it-alls.

  • Apple's Mac Pro wheels cost $699, and the feet run $299

Wow. This recalls the bad, old days of the 1990s when PowerMacs used proprietary, expensive parts and peripherals instead of commodity PC components.
