  • Apple focuses on size with 'Illusion' ad for iPhone XS & XS Max

I'm a life long Apple fanboy with an iPhone X and I absolutely HATE the notch! HATE!!! In all seriousness and reasonableness, the notch is a genuinely stupid concept. Why would they choose to put an obstruction INSIDE the screen limiting some of your video viewing content?  Let me put it another way.... why would you put a bezel INSIDE the screen???  Bezels are borders. Why put a border as an obstruction inside the viewing area of a screen??  It is literally a stupid design choice, but it passes muster ONLY because Apple did it. Samsung's Note 8/9 is not only aesthetically better but does not rob the user ANY video real estate. If I were not such a maniacal hoarder of iMessage and SMS conversation histories, I would have traded in my iPhone X for a Note 9 this year and kept the Samsung until Apple eliminates the notch - and I am 100% sure Apple will eventually boot the notch once they come up with a way to embed Face ID and/or fingerprint sensor invisibly in the screen.  Till that time, I guess I will just hang on to my iPhone X and be pissed off everytime it stares back at me on a solid white screen or when I am watch a full screen movie. ...sigh : (
You know that you can double tap on the screen and the video will be shown entirely, just do that and pretend the black bars are part of the frame similar to older phones. The notch is like 99% of using the phone while watching videos is occasionally for the majority of people

  • Everything you need to know about Apple Watch Series 4

I'll be very interested to see how they handle text size and wrapping with the rounded corners. This is how it's handled on the current watches:

If they merely scale this to the larger window, it will be cut off in the corners when scrolling. And note the default system size text -- will it be the same to accommodate more text in the new space, or will it be upscaled to be more legible in the larger display area?
They showed examples of how apps like email and calendar etc look like on a larger screen kinda to show how the text is handled, you can compare to that

  • Bluetooth & Wi-Fi can't be fully disabled via iOS 11 Control Center, Apple says

I've been buying iPhones yearly since like 7 years and never turned off WiFi or Bluetooth off to conserve battery (3G, 4G etc will hurt the batter though) so I don't see an issue here. If you don't have other Apple products then you can switch BT and WiFi off from the settings app

  • AirPods Wireless Charging Case an add-on, release date and pricing unknown

It's all about Bluetooth 5 with 2x faster and 4x more coverage and the ability to stream audio to 2 speakers, this will make Apple connected devices more reliable and better
"iPhone X, the future of smartphones," says every media outlet. While I agree, limiting wireless charging to 7.5W cannot be consider future-proof.
What is this future-proof of which you speak?
Well, for starters, Qi already bumped their specification to 15W prior to the new iphones' release. So it's behind before it even hits the streets. (I know there could be technical reasons limited by thermal regulation, as wells as the iPhones may have been finalized before the bump in Qi specs, etc.) I'm just pointing out the issue in calling something "the future of smartphones" when currently it lacks what's available today. Sometimes Apple includes tech, like MacBook Pros getting early access to Intel chips which helps enforce the product's future-proofing. Apple gets the freedom to dictate the state of future-proofing by sheer volume of sales. 3rd party companies do not give up on certain standards prematurely, like stop producing 7W Qi wireless chargers when they could just produce 15W models instead because the larger user base of iPhone 8, 8 plus and X customers will drive the market to keep producing a inferior product because the consumers need them. Yes, I know, 15W Qi standard is backwards comparable, but the poor user experience of 7.5W will fall out of vogue quickly with consumers, thus lack future-proofing from a UX perspective.
We don't know for sure what is the limitations of NOT adopting certain things, for example why the new Watch series 3 doesn't have Bluetooth 5? I was really waiting for all theses iPhones, Watches and AirPods to adopt BT5 so we can have more speed, range, and the ability to stream to 2 speakers, etc but they didn't put that at least the new watches that I'm certain about. But this is Apple, so you either buy their things or you don't there is no other options unfortunately
