  • 'Mighty DOOM' top-down shooter coming to iPhone March 21

It’s really annoying when most of the promo video is high rez cgi models. Only toward the end do they show actual video of the game and tbh compared to what led up to it, it looks like crap. It’s probably not that bad, top down imposes limits on what you can do, but compared to the movie quality lead in, it pales in comparison.
The top-down character models look very close to what's seen in the non-gameplay part of the trailer. Do a freeze frame at 1:28 or so and you can see that the boss with the big horns is not that different versus the trailer. IMO, it's more that the lighting and environments of the top-down gameplay are fairly vanilla. All the emphasis is on the bullet hell effects and explosions etc.
    I'm not convinced.

  • Queen of Christmas bails out of Apple TV+, lands on CBS

Bad timing on Gallagher's part. The very same day, USPTO denied her application for trademarks on "Queen of Christmas."
Yes, so she is the "Queen of Christmas", and not "The Queen of Christmas™".

  • Apple employee's job threatened over viral TikTok video

Employees who work for a private sector company serve at the will of the employer. That employer can terminate any employee not covered by a labor contract or union representation, at any time, for any reason, or for no reason.

Like it or not, the employee has no recourse in this case.
Is this the case in California? Does she not have a contract? Would Apple really terminate her when it was clearly a case of a manager overstepping their boundaries just to cover for themselves? Employe retention has been difficult for many companies in the tech industry so it's not exactly the right time to be sacking someone just because a middle manager got spooked.

Yeah and Joe-schmo blasting away with a gun at a coffee shop is more likely to kill innocent people than the perpetrators.
Name one instance where the good guy with the gun who stopped a criminal ended up killing innocent bystanders.

    More training needed...

My favourite 'only in America' videos are when the cops are chasing someone down the highway, and the cop driving shoots through his own windshield in order to get some shots off in the direction of the suspect. They always seem to be in LA.
