  • Law firm that extracted $450M settlement in Apple e-books case is going after company for ...

I believe what apple did is entirely right however what was really dumb was not telling us about it. If i had known they my old iphone6+ needed a new batterry i would have replaced it. What was really annoying was not knowing my phone was being slowed down. I experienced severe slow downs and it really affected my ability to use the ohone at times. Apple only has itself to blame for this one

  • Watch: Five ways iPhone X could be better

    i agree with a few

    1) i don't understand why two actions are need to activate the phone: can't just having face id registeriing my face be enough , why do i have to swipe up?

    2) activating contol center ; yes its not intuitive from the top right, surely an easierway can be found?

    3) multi -tasking activation also badly implemented

    4) in the car, why can't i touch screen and i use my voice to enter the 8 digit pin, or a pass phrase -  like
'fuck  samsung" of course i'd never use that when someone is present.

my gripe->  5) I really believe more voice commands need be to be added to interface to complement gestures. cmon AAPL this isn't rocket science!

He is surely hitting some sore spots.
DED has the nack. He really brings ‘em out from under the bridge.
The reason why people hate mac users and by inference anything apple is because steve jobs broke the cardinal rule of computing when he invented the macintosh. You see, computing like many other professions was and still is to a certain effect shrouded in an an aura of mystique. Back in that era late 70,s early 80,s a computer nerd was perceived as some kind of small clique of people who perceived themselves as some kind of elite. They spoke a special language and wore certain geeky clothes to identify themselves to one another. The more obscure, complicated and advanced the knowledge they possessed the more they felt they were above normal mortals. This advanced form of snobery still survives today in many forms , but especially in the mac versus pc crowd. They each deride each others choices and exchange flame wars over whose system is better. Its really very childish. Anyways to get back to why pc and windows snobs hate Apple is very simple- they opened up computing to the “unwashed masses” and made it possible for “grandma” to enter their domain. They have never forgiven Apple for that sin!

  • iPhone X supply chain improvements, not weak demand, to thank for reduced ship times

Odd I live in a major metropolitan area and have not seen one X.

Net neutrality is an Obama era invention. How did we ever get along all these years without it? Before net neutrality was AI ever blocked by some Windows person at a carrier? It didn’t happen before the government’s power grab and it won’t happen after either even though it is ‘theoretically’ possible. Labeling Internet service as a utility no different than natural gas or electricity so the government could control it was a mistake and I’m happy it’s going away.

The only restrictions I remember from the days before net neutrality was that websites told me to go away because I was a Mac user and wasn’t running IE as by browser. The government didn’t fix that, competition and innovation did.
Why don’t you look at this from the perspective of internet capabilities? The internet continues to get faster and more capable and there are increasing opportunities in internet monetisation. The internet has stayed neutral despite commercial interest. There is no reason at all to think the internet will continue to remain neutral. As the capabilities increase the business opportunities increase, and even well-meaning entrepreneurs will seek out opportunities unaware of the effect of their actions. And, of course, there are plenty of people who will happily screw their customers and ruin anything if they can get away with it. As much as I did not like Obama policies in general the idea of net neutrality is vital in keeping the internet the way it is—it might be the one thing Obama’s administration did that I liked!

The internet is bigger than a commercial venture. While much of it is entertainment, that’s not its philosophy and shouldn’t be. It’s the easy and free distribution of information and communication. It’s more like utility services than it is like a television network.
The reason why net neutrality is essential is simply because it levels the playing field and makes the network more competitive.  The idea that this legislation allows more freedom is preposterous the big corporation know this and are engaged in double speak, this is all about cementing their monopolies for competituve advantage and nothing less . The folks here who think the previous rule it is by definition bad because it was sanctioned by obama are stupid and ignorant . Most of them probably are paid shills from the like of comcast
