  • Microsoft says loosened App Store gaming rules still make for a 'bad experience'

If Microsoft is complaining about a bad experience then Apple must be on the right track.
MS is complaining about Apple bad experiences in gaming are valid, considering what you are seeing in Apple Arcade and Apple TV as a gaming console.
If they don’t like that then MS has an alternative: spend a billion creating a mobile platform, spend a billion more marketing it and you’re guaranteed to wipe the iPhone off the face of the earth by 2015.
MS may not have a mobile platform today, but they have one of the largest gaming platforms (maybe the largest) in the world, and for some reason, you criticize them for trying to bring it to us, Apple customers.  Don't you think that you criticize blame Apple for the terrible gaming experiences we have, specially when compared to MS?

The irony of Microsoft preaching "bad experience".
If we are talking about gaming, MS experiences are miles ahead of Apple.

On day one of loosened rules the complaints from the companies that don't get the full control that they want are rolling in. Hey Microsoft, start your own gaming platform. Oh, wait, you did. To be more fair and balanced, I'll consider MS's offering. I didn't like Apple Arcade. But I appreciate the way Apple is letting this occur. I definitely don't want companies like MS to take over control of the iOS interface and experience. They had multiple chances and they blew it. Now they are a bunch of cry babies.
I'll have no issues MS taking control of iOS gaming experience.  It would be far better than we have with any Apple device today.

The leaders of ‘Bad Experience’ have spoken.
You have to be more specific about the "leader of bad experience", considering the article is about gaming experiences.  As today, MS is miles ahead in the whole gaming experience, so I suppose your comment is about Apple, right?

  • Apple Arcade game developers talk about experience with Apple

Apple doesn't really do gaming because it believes folk should get their recreation through being outdoors and taking exercise, rather than sitting in front of a screen.

Having said that, I think Apple should work with gaming studios in much the same way it works with its manufacturing partners.

Apple doesn't manufacture its own stuff because it doesn't want to be saddled with a manufacturing infrastructure which they would need to sell or retool when they start making new widgets.

Likewise, Apple doesn't want to be saddled with a game studio that creates something that might be out of fashion in a year or two.

However they could create a really great gaming engine (and they might need one soon) and work with/pay game studios to produce really great games to run on it.

If what you posted was true, Apple would not have created and invested in Apple TV+ and it's content.
