  • Editorial: The new Mac Pro is overkill for nearly everybody, and it hit Apple's own target...

I am glad to see AI attempt a preemptive strike to counter the “overpriced” rants that will surely follow. Those who wanted an “almost pro” headless Mac with slots that started at $2499 are of course disappointed but then that crowd is always disappointed. It’s now clear that the machine they want will never exist as a Macintosh. Most lower level pros and “prosumers” (what is a prosumer anyway)) will do just fine with the iMac Pro, Mac Mini or standard iMac. In Apple centric tech forums we are led to believe the headless Mac with slots has a giant, untapped market to be served but I disagree. The typical Mac prospect is looking for simplicity, design, and ease of use, not a tinkerer’s machine to play with. Get ready for the barrage of complaints about the so-called market gap between the iMac Pro and the Mac Pro. We already knew that whatever the new Mac Pro turned out to be it would be savaged here.

That the new Mac Pro will be available in a rack mount configuration was a bit of a welcome surprise. That should make it even more popular with the big pro studios. Get ready for movies produced completely on the Mac Pro.

    you mean like this?

I suspect that next year, Apple might come out with a "lower" priced version of this MacPro, using the same case, with similar components used in the iMac Pro, to address those that want the iMacPro level performance, but with a modular form factor.  OTOH, Apple does it's market research, and they may feel that between the iMac Pro and the Mac Mini, they have all their markets covered.

  • AAPL now 'strong buy,' will climb back to $225 in 2019, says Needham

But wait, all the analysts said that Apple was fucking finished when the stock took a dive, and there were headlines every 5 seconds explaining to us that the stock drop is the result of Apple's numerous inherent failures of a company and their uncertain, but probably doomed, future. Of course, not that it's been clawing it's way back up (as any fucking rational person could have predicted with near 100% certainty) it's suddenly a "BUY BUY BUY" again. So reactive, every single time.
Amen, brother slurpy. Such is life on Wall Street. Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes AAPL is again within striking distance of both Microsoft and the $1 Trillion market cap. The “Apple is doomed” narrative has achieved mythical status and is now ensconced in the annals of financial analyst bullshit. And OH! Fire Tim Cook™
Keep Tim Cook. Bring a better/new product visionary for better products. As an investor, the supply chain is golden. As a consumer, the product roadmap is mediocre.
How does anyone know Apple's product roadmap? Apple famously keeps their mouth shut and doesn't give anyone their product roadmap, so you can't say its mediocre because you don't know what's coming.  They have expressed interest in the healthcare space, and that's a HUGE potential market. This is a long term strategy.

  • Apple Watch Series 2 abandons gold Edition models in favor of ceramic

I agree with georgecreedle that the gold models served their purpose to create buzz about the product.  They are now rare collectors items that will only increase in value.  I suspect this was Apple's plan all along.

  • Apple Pay exceeding expectations with 400 percent user growth in 2016

Many places, restaurants in particular, have terminals that can do ApplePay, but the cashiers either don't know how to use them, or they are behind the counter where you can't use your phone.  I've had to tell many clerks to simply ring it up as a credit card transaction, and then when it's ready, I use my phone.  Some are amazed that it works.  Apple needs to do outreach to all to show how Apple Pay is actually beneficial, since it speeds up the checkout transaction vs a chip card.  Perhaps financial incentives to get Apple Pay used?

  • Maricopa County Attorney bans employees from getting new iPhones, says Apple is 'on the side of ter

So they will buy Samsung or LG phones instead? A very RED and patriotic US police department would rather buy from a foreign company than a US company (yes, they build their phones in China too)? Apple is not AGAINST law enforcement.  They are FOR individual privacy and the constitution.  That's why we have a Bill of Rights.  That's why the police have to issue Miranda warnings, to tell people that they actually have rights when they are arrested, unlike some other country's. We, the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, actually limit the power of government from interfering with individuals' freedoms.  Yes, if it were up to the police, they would put cameras in everyone's home, just in case someone in the neighborhood might be doing something illegal behind closed doors.  However, we have laws that prevent this.

Apple is doing the right thing in saying NO, and then hopefully having this hashed out in the courts and laws changed.  The changed law may not favor Apple, but at least it will be clear.
