  • If your iPhone calls emergency services, don't hang up if you're fine says Apple

I was riding my motorcycle the other day and unknown to me the jacket was pushing on the side button. I thought someone was calling me, so I ignored it. Then I thought, I was hearing a siren sound but wasn't sure what it was.

When I finally got home, I see a text from my brother (emergency contact) asking what was going on. Looked at my phone and there were multiple calls to 911 and texts to my brother. I had to turn off the side button feature. Just pushing the button and then cancel w/o selecting the SOS choice was calling and texting?
This happened to me as well recently.  The edge of my riding glove at my wrist was pushing on the side button.  Luckily, I noticed it and stopped before I got on the freeway.  When I explained what had happened to the dispatcher, she was just glad that I was safe and that I did the right thing by answering.

  • Apple TV hardware will never be more than a hobby, unless Apple changes direction

The one thing I want from my TV is to remember what shows I watch and what streaming channels I watch them on. I don't have cable, but I subscribe to a LOT of streaming channels (in alpha order): Amazon Prime, Apple+, BritBox, Disney+, HBOMax, Hulu, Paramount+ and occasionally Showtime. I'm constantly annoyed that I need to remember what show is offered on what service... shouldn't my smart TV be smart enough to do that for me?

If Apple can put all my music into a single interface (regardless is whether I bought the single, or the album or streamed it), can’t they do the same for TV?

Wait a minute.  All the shows I'm currently watching appear in Up Next on my Apple TV.  I just choose whatever program I want to continue watching and it goes directly to that service.  Does that not happen for you?  Are you describing something different than Up Next?  Just curious.

As for Apple TV hardware itself, it's the interface and the sound and picture quality that keeps me buying it.  I have a dedicated home theater so when streaming Dolby Atmos, it's pretty darn good.  Depends on the movie though.

  • Apple confirms Studio Display speaker fault, offers workaround

I own the new Studio Display and haven't had any sound/speaker issues at all. Per the issue becoming "more widespread", I've seen tweets posted on other rumor sites where the person complaining about the issue is running the Ventura beta. Hmmmm...
That may be but I'm running macOS 12.4 on my M1 Mac mini and I had this issue a couple of weeks ago.  It  drove me crazy but thankful I found the workaround/solution on Apple Community Forums.  Haven't had the issue return so far.

  • 'Foundation' is beautiful, lavish, and boring say reviews

Why is it every “epic story” is full of people with British accents? Did the UK conquer the universe and leave everyone else behind? Star Wars, Dune, so many shows, so many English accents. I know, it’s a small quibble, but it bothers me enough to pull me out of immersion.
LOL.  I always ask the very same thing.  Yes, a small quibble but someone please explain.  It's like watching "Medici" on Netflix.  They are in Italy but everyone is British.

  • FEMA, FCC conducted smartphone Wireless Emergency Alert test on Wednesday

Didn't receive either.  While we're on this subject, does anyone know why these alerts don't also allow for notifications in the Lock Screen and Notification Center?
