material design UI is unintuitive and hideous, youtube app feels completely out of place with rest of iOS experience (i guess this is mostly intentional; that said, this should detract anyone who gives a damn about a nice mobile experience of considering a switch to android)

Haha, seriously.  This new device is yielding very interesting glimpses into the upcoming product line.

My question is whether Apple is planning third-party functionality at release?  Why not just lock down the device until v2, or a later firmware update?  Certainly would have prevented all the poking around by developers and exposing the clues that has come out the past few days.

i hope apple takes the hint and releases new iphones in three form factors (S/M/L) from now on.

tipping point for what?!  windows is an OS of convenience and affordability, once you try macOS, there is no turning back.
