  • Man dives into freezing waters to rescue iPhone XS lost in Canadian harbor

It may have been freezing cold in Victoria but the water wasn't freezing cold. The water in the Victoria BC doesn’t drop below 45°f.
    Interesting!

  • Apple shows off iPhone 12 Pro cinematography chops in new Dolby Vision ad

All brands of phones are at the same inflection point in my opinion. The photography keeps getting better and better but that’s about it. How much more can you improve on making phone calls, playing music, charging, etc. Design is pretty much established with cosmetic variations between brands. For the casual, average user the WOW factor is not what it used to be. My wife and I have iPhone 8’s that are functioning just fine. Would we like to upgrade to iPhone 12 models? Yes. Is it necessary or  compelling? Not so much. And again, I’m not singling out Apple, it’s everybody.
I don't care if the WOW factor is not what it used to be. If part of the customer base becomes jaded, that's just too bad—for them! I thoroughly enjoy the Apple products I choose to own, and I'm very much looking forward to getting the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I'm interested in seeing what 5G will mean to the overall experience, and I can't wait to use the camera and learn its features.

I recently bought the iPad Pro 12.9" with Apple Pencil, and I'm elated at finally being able to run real Adobe Photoshop AND now Illustrator on it to do REAL WORK!! I love using the iPad and Pencil to do layer masking, for example. I love being able to pinch/spread/rotate with my fingertips while drawing realistically with the Pencil along the image's edges. It's sooo much nicer than the mouse!

  • Russian draft bill would force third-party app stores, cap commissions at 20%

Apple could cap to a 20% commission, but add other fees. Apple’s costs don’t drop just because political meddlers tell them to drop them.
LOL!  I don't think Apple is just squeezing by on the current 30%.  Seems every quarter, Apple is making record BILLIONS in profits on their services.

Literally, everything Apple does is high-profit.
If you "price what the market will bear", as a basic principle, Apple seems to be doing the right thing, and 30% is fair. If you're envious of Apple's profits, how about YOU creating your own company and see how much better your ideas work out!!

  • Apple 'App economy' generated 300,000 new US jobs amid coronavirus pandemic

Reparations of Apple’s money in the works for Americans....., the more payrolls for workers the more tax dollars for the government. I guess that was the planned, genius.
Ridiculous. To hell with "reparations"! This is, plain and simple, a good thing for Apple and its developers. And it's a large category of products, services, and income for both developers and Apple that doesn't come from China. Fair, proportionate, taxation is far more palatable than the rapacious, arbitrary levies exacted by leftist administrations!!

  • Apple's Tim Cook receives stock award worth $282M, sells $132M

Gross. They could have given $2000 to every single full-time employee instead.
Just how many of these "full-time employees" could step up and run Apple anywhere nearly as well as Mr. Cook?

His is an incredibly difficult job with a commensurately high level of responsibility. A free society requires these leadership skills at so many levels. Only a slave state could pretend to demand "equal pay for everyone". Communist claptrap!!
