I can happily tell you it does. As mentioned before, at Sony we explored this area in depth already around 5 years ago. “Landing” AR objects magnetically to real-world physical objects, like surfaces, turned out to be the best way for users to interact with them. Also, it was the only representation that didn’t make the wearers seasick after a while.

A 3D soundscape will also require this ability to determine orientation relative the wearers head. This feature was announced by Apple for the AirPod Pro at WWDC in June.

Would be interesting to see how close you could come to a laptop experience with this display + iPhone 11Pro + Bluetooth keyboard and -mouse.

Finally Apple is approaching the level that Sony R&D was at 5-6 years ago — at least partially. Apple however knows how to actually build useful and attractive products. So I now have big hopes for the future of AR glasses again. But if these two companies joined forces we would already be in the “future” now.

Boies Schiller Flexner's suit alleges that app developers have "no choice" but to use this SDK. According to Reuters, in a separate case, the Justice Department has included Firebase in its potential antitrust investigations.

Well, how exactly is Google forcing developers to use it? I’m a developer and I wouldn’t touch it.

@Rayz2016: I know it’s totally besides the topic of this article, but what tools do you as a developer recommend instead of Firebase?
