Amazing engineering piece. Need more break through nowadays, not just progressive product. Hopefully, 5G would open the flood gate.

Why would 5G open the flood gate?
High speed would change everything from ai to robotic etc. It will impact our life more ways than you can imagine.   AI will do the coding and debug itself for one, robotic remote surgery is another, for me, I want holographic 3d Ramon city walk around in my living room. Or mountain climb without any danger. IMHO.
It’s great that you are so positive about the future. I also want autonomous space robots mining for diamonds on planets orbiting distant neutron stars. But nothing of that has much to do with 5G. It’s a telecom standard. Just saying… 🦄

  • Editorial: How AirPods and Shortcuts shifted Apple's Siri story and blunted Amazon's Alexa...

    Are you kidding me?!?

Siri is dead last when it comes to usefulness (and accuracy) in voice assistants.

Thanks for a FUD piece of journalism.
@smaffei: ;Have you even tried Shortcuts with Siri?
Personally, I use Siri at least ten times as often now as I did before the deep Shortcuts integration. In that way I’ve expanded Siri’s vocabulary with almost 40 new functions that I actually use – many times per week.

Alexa I don’t even use anymore. It was more of an experiment already from the start. Wanted to see what it could possibly give me of real value. Turned out not much, because its phrases simply didn’t correlate with my real-world needs. With Siri + Shortcuts I hit my personal use-cases automatically.

  • Apple rumored to sell Apple TV 4K, HomePod at cost

I can’t understand why HomePod isn’t distributed worldwide... I would be glad to buy one in Italy.
Well, it might just be that the topic of this article holds the answer to this question — Apple is still loosing money on them, or not gaining enough. Why push sales on a product if you don’t really want to sell it? I mean, Apple is not even trying.

  • Apple's incoming 6.5-inch iPhone will offer Plus-style landscape modes

It shouldn't be up to Apple to decide if we want landscape mode. It should be a user preference.
I don’t agree at all. I really enjoy that Apple is taking responsibility for the entire usability of their products. I wouldn’t like them to hand us a million settings, and then leave it to us to configure the products’ until we get a useful behavior. Microsoft and Google already apply that philosophy, because they don’t know squat about UX.
