  • HBO Max to take on Apple TV+ in May 2020 [u]

    This will only popularize piracy.

  • Apple advises iPhone 5 owners to update to iOS 10.3.4 by November 3

I'm a little confused by this.   I thought Apple had halted updates to the iPhone 5 last September (2018).   Is it still getting updates?   Or maybe just security updates?
    Special update for GPS issue.

  • Play those classic iOS games with GameClub for $4.99 per month

I signed up during the first month, to see what the hoopla was all about.

Nearly a month later, Catalina dropped and I really didn't have much time to try these games on the Mac.

Suffice it to say I was "Under-whelmed" and cancelled.  Personally, I still see no reason to join.  For a few bucks, I can own the games I want to own/play; vs paying a recurring $60/year for a plethora of games I could not care less about.
Lol! Good luck finding place to buy Sayonara Wild Heart for a few bucks. Arcade games are not exclusive to console and PC and many of them available on those platforms, in a price range of $10+ to 20+. Sayonara Wild Heart alone is worth 4 months of Arcade paid subscription. Not all games will suit to every player but don’t show your ignorance.
I just got back from crowded doctor office and gloriously spent an hour waiting for him playing Grindstone and time flies. That hour alone already worth $5 for me.

  • Editorial: Why Microsoft Surface isn't growing after seven years of trying

The article reminds me that I have never heard anyone talking about Microsoft Band for a long time, and it sure isn’t updated by Microsoft this year. In fact, I already forget it had ever existed.
And if Microsoft can only sell devices around 1B a quarter I ask again, how could they fund the development of the chip like they claimed (with Qualcomm)?

  • Apple Watch saves Calgary woman from rapist

Texting is not one of Apple Watch's strong suits -- if you can't talk to it (which I assume she couldn't) then you have to draw each letter which is very slow and tedious.  Thankfully she had time to put together a coherent message that got results.

Apple Watch is just amazing.  It promotes your health while protecting your safety in a thousand different ways -- which is the main reason why I got one.   But I also very much enjoy all the other cool things it does as well.
Nothing slow and tedious fast swiping “Call 911” on Apple Watch when you’re in emergency situation.
I've been wearing my Apple Watch for a couple of year now and I just tested this.  I couldn't even figure out how to initiate a text without a few false starts.  On the other hand the Emergency SOS feature is readily accessible (hold the non-crown button for a few seconds).  I think I'll go with that in an emergency.
Didn’t know about her situation but on mine, if I tap iMessage app, my wife will be the first on recipient list. Tap that and tap Scribble and you can scribble to your heart content without making a single sound. I often scribble longer sentence than Call 911 without a problem.
It will be even easier if she has iMessage, or on S4 and S5 her boyfriend contact, complication on her watch face.
