  • GE debuts HomeKit-enabled C by GE smart lights, wall switches, wall plug

Requiring a hub is a non-starter for me. Leviton makes native HomeKit switches and dimmers that have worked flawlessly for me. Also, I prefer to control the switches/dimmers rather than the individual bulbs.

  • Apple TV 4K could be used by big UK cable firm as set-top box

I’ve been using the HDHomerun Extend & Prime boxes and the Channels app on 3 ATV4s. SiliconDust started offering HDHomerun Premium TV, a streaming service of cable channels for $35 a month. I signed up for that and Channels DVR Service for $80 a year. Works great and I love the interface. The only catch is that you need an HDHomerun OTA box (e.g. Extend) as a requirement (they don’t stream local channels) and a local NAS to run the DVR software and store the recorded shows. While I get most most OTA channels but not all off a roof antenna, when I called Optimum/Altice to reduce my service to just Internet service they offered me Internet plus Broadcast Basic (OTA channels) for less than Internet alone ...and I guess they get to say they didn’t lose a cable TV subscriber. I’m very happy with the setup.

  • MyFitnessPal data breach exposes email addresses, passwords of 150M accounts

"Not included in the data stash was government-issued identifiers like Social Security numbers and driver's license data, as MyFitnessPal does not collect such information from its customers." ...also not included are passport numbers, banking PINs, mother's maiden name. Wow, I feel better now! /s

  • Reminder: HomePod can replace an Apple TV or iPad as a HomeKit hub

The picture of the Home app on an iPad shows a vacuum. Anyone know of a HomeKit enabled robotic vacuum?

  • Jaguar Shell app lets UK drivers refuel using Apple Pay from inside their car

After they use a PIN... why? Why no Touch ID? A PIN should be the secondary form of approval for those customers unable to use Touch ID.
No touch ID built in to the car's touch screen. If the car is utilizing the app through CarPlay, CarPlay would need to support Touch ID. Does CarPlay provide a way for  transactions using TouchID remotely??? Never had to contemplate that before.

I don't think this is Apple CarPlay... the InControl Apps system is probably more akin to AppLink used by Ford's Sync/My Touch.
