  • Health Canada tells users to ask Apple when they'll get the Watch ECG app

It never fails to astound me how people want what they want right now. So far ECG functionality has been A-Class. All it will take for class action lawsuits to get filed is one mistake. One. All the people impatiently waiting would immediately be glad they had not gotten the functionality and wouldn’t hesitate to criticize Apple for not being the best it could have been if it had waited a bit longer to release ECG functionality. Health Canada should be held accountable for its actions of directing queries to Apple instead of just answering questions. Health Canada’s association with Apple ECG functionality will only last as long as the functionality works. If the functionality fails, Health Canada won’t know how to spell Apple.
This is rambling nonsense. Health Canada rightfully directed people to the only entity who can give an answer about when ECG functionality will be coming to Canadian AW4 owners.  That entity is Apple.  Apple is the only company to answer that question.  Health Canada's only responsibility was to approve or reject the ECG functionality.  They approved it back in May.  They have absolutely no say so regarding the availability of the ECG functionality.

Held accountable?  For what?  Telling people to make inquiries of the only company who can answer the question?

  • Bill Gates equates Steve Jobs' talent to 'casting spells'

"Android is the standard non-Apple phone platform."

A nice way of saying iPhone knockoffs.

Just another way of saying only stupid people buy Apple products. Casting spells but he could see right through them because a wizard too? My ass.
I also enjoyed the silly hubris of "Steve & I were both minor wizards", but you didn't expect Mr Gates to admit that he was always totally outclassed by Mr Jobs did you ;-)
He was being entirely complementary to Jobs.  Contrary to your interpretation, he didn't say Jobs was a minor wizard.  He deprecated his own status by claiming himself to be a minor wizard.  I am both amazed and saddened that you and so many others read the article and came away with a complete lack of understanding of what you read.

Calling Jobs ability to galvanize and motivate "magic" is akin to calling Steph Curry's 3 point shooting "witchcraft" ← it's not though, it's voodoo.   It's like calling Jordan's ability to  intimidate opponents "soul stealing".  Same thing as saying Brady cheated by deflating balls... no wait... Same thing as calling Brady's field presence "god like".  All those terms, magic, witchcraft, voodoo, soul stealing, god like,,, all of them are just creative ways to express admiration for something.  Supporting evidence of Gates expressing admiration is right in the article.  Literally everything he said about Jobs was complimentary: 1. he turned a dying company into a great one.  2.  a magical ability to mesmerize or captivate an audience.  3. great judge of people and products: "I have yet to meet any person who [could rival Jobs] in terms of picking talent, hyper-motivating that talent, and having a sense of design of, oh, this is good [or] this is not good," Gates continued.

He said Jobs was magical.  The exact same descriptor many Apple fans use to describe Apple products.  The only way to read that piece and come away with a negative narrative is to actively and intentionally create one.

"but because I'm a minor wizard, the spells don't work on me," said Gates."

This sentence completely kills your illusion that Gates was giving compliments. What a di**.
That's dumb as hell.  You take one sentence out of context and ignore the rest of the entirety of what he said?  Like I said, you have to be looking to be negative to find negative in that piece.  We all know your entire shtick is denigrate anything that isn't Apple.  So finding the negative is right up your alley.

  • Hands-on: Audio-Technica's ATH-AD1000X 'audiophile' open-back headphones

I would think the whole point of headphones is to avoid disturbing others, or to stop yourself being disturbed.if open backed headphones result in audio bleed then they sort of defeat the purpose.

I understand and they have better sound, but really, a set of Kef loudspeakers (choose your preferred audiophile set up here) would do much better. Maybe not at this price though.
You're missing the point of open back headphones.  Open back headphones are desired for their natural soundstage.  They are great for critical listening in a personal environment.  Open backs aren't your typical headset choice in a shared environment.   I listen to mine in my office with the door closed.  A set of loudspeakers serve a different purpose than headphones and shouldn't be compared.  Open backs might bleed some sound into the environment.  Loudspeakers play sound into the environment.  Big difference.

Basically you want to be alone in a quiet space with open back headphones because, while they bleed some sound out, they also allow outside sound in.  That openness is a blessing when it enhances the soundstage.  It's a curse if you're in an evironment where outside noise is coming through.  They really aren't meant for that type of environment.

  • iPad Pro vs Surface Pro features and specs showdown

I honestly don’t understand why on an Apple website we all too often get reviews of and comparisons to Windows or Android. I read Apple news for Apple news.  There are plenty of blogs and reviews sites for the other products. If I want to learn about those products I know where to look.
There are many reasons.  Most people aren't ecosystem exclusive and use gadgets from multiple vendors.  Intellectual curiosity-people like to know what the other side is doing.  Natural competitiveness - confirmation bias: what I purchased is the best.  Some Apple enthusiast also appreciate the advances in other brands that push Apple to improve their tech.  Most'y though, people aren't myopic in their viewpoints.  Those who are usually have the good sense to avoid the offending articles instead of wondering why content outside of their area of interest is on site.  The most elemental reason for articles about tech outside of the main focus is to drive discussion.  No one wants to visit a site where every opinion is lock stepped bland agreement.

Like you said if you want to learn about other products, you know where to look.  If you don't want to learn about other products, you know where NOT to look.  An article about other products would probably be the first place not to look.
