  • Apple reveals further details about AirTag's anti-stalking feature

“If the AirTag owner is apart from their device for around three days, the AirTag will make a sound.
The idea is that the sound will alert a non-iPhone user to the existence of the tracking device, and hopefully help them locate it.”

This is the bit that I don’t quite understand.

    1. As an anti-stalking measure, it’ll still allow non-iPhone users to be tracked/stalked for 3 days before alerting them?

    2. If I attach this to something that I only occasionally use and don’t have near me - such as my bicycle in the bike compound in work - it’ll start continuously beeping after 3 days?

    Am I misunderstanding it? 🤔

  • Apple discontinues full-size HomePod, to focus on HomePod mini

I really wanted to buy 2 or 3 of these. I was waiting until they became available in Ireland, but which weren’t yet due to.......Siri specifics, presumably. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Even though I’d say that’s very much a minority use (and even more so given my experience of Siri, which is almost always disappointing.)

Myself and a few others were considering driving the 2hrs to buy them in Belfast. Where they’re available and work because it’s UK. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

It felt to me like an untapped market just yet to mature.

  • Toyota president tells Apple to prepare for the long-haul with 'Apple Car'

I don’t think this is an issue as my guess is they will not be selling cars, they will be selling a service. All maintenance and decisions to take older versions off the road to be recycled are completely within Apple’s capabilities.
    👆🏼this

    AND / OR

they will offer complimentary mobility products for sale that WILL be much closer to the size and lifespan of their usual products - for example e-scooters.

  • Apple doubles down on self-driving safety research for 'Apple Car'

Again, better to use the terminology of crashes or collisions, not accidents.
Cars are dangerous machines and there will be deaths when the rumored "Apple Car" gets into accidents.
An accident would be a vehicle slipping on oil or black ice (assuming the driver was driving appropriately) - ie generally unavoidable at the time and no one is at fault.

A collision or crash is something preventable. For example, by a human driver driving at the correct speed for the circumstances, or not checking their phone, or not driving tired or drunk. Or by a driving software leaving sufficient braking distance, or recognising and knowing how to respond to a potential hazard. Or by hardware being properly checked and serviced. Etc.

  • Apple Maps gets crowdsourced accident, speed check and hazard warnings in iOS 14.5 beta

It’s crazy if they’re actually calling them “accidents” as opposed to “crashes” or “collisions”. Almost all collisions are due to someone’s fault, and could have been prevented.
