  • Apple to decide location of new campus without public bidding process

I cringe at any of these campuses coming anywhere near my vicinity.  After living in the Bay Area the last few years (and relocating due to the ever-increasing cost of living there), I warm these cities who compete for these jobs to be ready to invest heavily in infrastructure (with tax dollars they won’t get from the business), otherwise the surrounding area will become quickly inundated with traffic, overcrowded schools, and (worst of all) exorbitant housing prices. Politicians are so short-sighted to think these bids are some sort of panacea for their constituents; it’s a death knell. They won’t be equipped to handle it, like kids on Christmas opening 15 presents who end up playing with the wrapping paper. If I were a city, this would be my bid: f&ck off.

  • 'Apple Watch Series 3' rumored to boast all-new form factor [u]

I agree Mike1, everyone jumps to that conclusion that the strap connections would get redesigned.  I imagine Apple mapped the Watch several iterations into the future and I would highly doubt it includes shapeshifting it so soon. I'm sure the first question they beat to death was "what shape should it be and why?"  If anything I imagine it would be wider/rectangular, eventually turning into a cuff-like device way down the road.

  • Apple to launch cellular connected Apple Watch later this year, report says

I'm not too excited about having a mini microwave oven strapped to my wrist unless, perhaps, the bottom case will be RF-shielded.  And what's the point?  I get the Lo-jack functionality; cool, but the wifi connectivity works really well like Jbdragon noted. Plus we're getting a new form factor so if it's any thinner, smaller, more powerful, etc...I would think there would be an embedded battery in the strap or some sort of kinetic charging (or Apple magic). Regardless, will be exciting to see what they do with it.

  • Apple hires two Google satellite execs for 'new hardware team'

Trouble is we hear abut these hires and special projects and nothing ever comes of them.
    Not with that attitude.
If you’ve been around here for a while you would know that I’m usually defending Apple against trolls and naysayers. But it’s becoming clear that Apple has nothing ‘in the pipeline’ that’s coming anytime soon. Everything appears to be years away, if ever. Sure, we’ll get new macOS, iOS, watchOS, tvOS announcements at WWDC but nothing significant in the hardware department. And my patience is wearing thin. Where are all those supposed $billions on R&D going anyway?
We all need to step back and realize all our gadgets would still be weighing 3lbs. if it weren't for all this R&D. The iDevices and Apple Watch would be impossible. Jobs saw this long ago when he pushed for lean power use, leaner coding, etc. The small stuff adds up bigly down the road, and, yes, it's a slow and expensive process.  We all want it yesterday and reality isn't so.  We all can see the benefit of future technology but engineering it for mass production is a different animal. The scale is enormous. We don't yet have automation mastered, but, again, Apple is taking steps to get there. Calculated steps, not Google leaps.  Steadfast patience.

  • Apple board member Al Gore sells $29.5M of company stock

As a long time shareholder I'm sure glad to see my shares being diluted by this guy. What has he done for the company?  You'd a thought he would have used his valuable political pull to open up repatriation or something...looks like Trump might be giving us that free of charge.  And who made this jetsetter the environmental expert?  I'm sure his 2¢ on the matter don't add up to half of one.
