  • Major apps abandoning Apple Watch, including Google Maps, Amazon & eBay [u]

Safari crashed and didn't let me finish my comment :)))

long story short: let other developers abandon watch apps to let apple know that their product is too slow and mostly useless.
Completely false -- not having/needing Amazon on my watch UI doesnt make the the device "useless". there are plenty of use cases the AW is great for, and why we get value out of ours and i see them on people every single day.
Ignore him - volganevarivier just wants you to react. When we don't hopefully he'll just disappear like many of the other trolls

The problem for the iPhone is not Samsung, like appleinsider seems to think, it is Android in general.

That's been said so many times over the years and it still isn't true. Nokia. Motorola. Huawei. LG. Samsung. Google's Nexus line, and now its Pixel line. They were all supposed to take out Apple either alone or as a group. Apple is not only still around, but thriving, and looks extremely healthy for the foreseeable future.

IMHO buying a phone has now just come down to personal preference, there isn't much difference between any of them these days, they all do the job asked of them pretty admirably. Like cars, I pick the one I like in my price range, they all get me from a to b and back again at the end of the day. The market has matured so fast I can't justify spending 1000s on a top tiered phone anymore. If more people start thinking like me, it will hurt Apple as they will no longer be able to justify their high prices, but it will be good for consumers. Apple aren't a tag heuer brand, where you have to pay through the nose for exclusivity.
Sorry Saltyzip, but you are an Android apologist on an Apple based site. Samsung S8 phones are relatively the same price as the iPhone so do not use price point as an excuse for your bias.

As long as the faithful stay with an iPhone then Apple has many more profitable years ahead.

The problem for the iPhone is not Samsung, like appleinsider seems to think, it is Android in general.

Google, LG, Motorola, Huawei all make great phones and most eclipse iPhone on the camera too. Look at the verge website for their latest camera shootout and you'll see iPhone doesn't even make the podium.

Apple phone inovation has plateaued, technical advancement takes a long time, and because they are running out of features to entice people to upgrade they are now falling behind what was the chasing pack.

As long as the Apple faithful continue buying iPhones, then nothing will change, but don't expect to get best bang for your buck.
You are citing `the Verge as a credible balanced site...
You are posting in thread hanging off a DED article. Balance is not something that springs to mind.
Quite frankly Avon DED articles use factual information more than most so credibility is correct on this occasion. You however are questionable.

I've scanned through a few of of your posts. Apple aren't perfect and I agree some of their products haven't been up to the standards we perceive Apple should be, but you use any excuse to downpour scorn onto them.

Is there any evidence the Surface Studio is selling?
I don't have any sales numbers because where I live (Canada) you can't even buy them yet - only pre-order.  That said, it looks like a wonderful device, a fantastic display. Really, the "ultimate" Surface Studio would be for them to remove the computer bits, and for it to only be a display.  And then you plug it into a PC if your choice.  Then, you can build a monumentally powerful computer that isn't as thermally constrained, and that you can upgrade from time to time.

Maybe even write the necessary drivers for macOS.  For example, when developing iOS apps, wouldn't it be nice if you could use your fingers and have the iOS Simulator accept touch input?  I know I would love that!  Pen input too!  You could debug your Apple Pencil specific code on your Mac!

Seriously, I wish Cupertino would fire up their photocopiers.  If Apple could make the iMac more like the Surface Studio, it would be a better product.
What evidence do you have in saying the Surface Studio is a better machine to an iMac? As someone who works in the graphic design industry the thought of using a touchscreen monitor makes little sense. How many fingerprints would be over the screen when you clearly need a smudge free display to create work.
If smudge is an issue to create work, how does people are doing it in their Surface devices and iPad Pro?
I don't know any designers/production artworker who use a Surface or iPad Pro to do their daily work so your point isn't relevant this time. Even if designers use laptops, they are usually hooked up to a larger display.
You'll find in Google many people who use iPads and Surface for art work.  Here are two examples,

    http://appleinsider.com/articles/16/08/09/stranger-things-poster-created-using-apples-ipad-pro-and-apple-pencil
    https://www.penny-arcade.com/news/post/2016/10/26/the-surface-studio

And I haven't seen how smudge limits their creativity or workflow.  Still, I would love to see smudge disappear, and I hope someone develops something to solve this issue.
I think you're mistaking creating art and a Production Artworker setting up design files for print. The latter relates to the graphic design industry which I have worked in for 19 years. My job cannot be done on a Surface or iPad.
Looks like I misunderstood.  Thanks for clarifying.
Not a problem – happy to have a good debate, even if we have opposing views
