And buying back stock increases the 'intrinsic' value of the shares, yes, but I have yet to see an actual stock-price change as a result of a buyback.. So, the value for the investor is only theoretical it seems to me.. right?

How do you know?The problem:Apple has a tendency to do nothing (or conceal) until it becomes a PR problem.
That is something you cannot know 'per definition'.. You only see the things that get reported.. You have no way of knowing what they did to solve issues that were not reported..
