Many of us have devices that do not need replacing and use USB A connections.
My M-Audio MIDI Controller would be but one example. Full size weighted keyboard, velocity sensitive and with a pedal. No need to replace it.

That's a textbook example of a device that can be upgraded to USB-C with no dongles or adapters. Just get a USB-B to USB-C cable.

All printers, nearly all external hard drives, no need to replace them, just get a new cable. 

I can't believe that it's six whole years after Apple stopped designing laptops with USB-A ports, and we still don't have any USB-C -> Lightning keychains. wtf.

question for the reviewer:

If one had a Macbook Pro connected to an LG Ultrafine 5k, and plugged this hub into one of the USB-C ports in the back of the display, will everything "basically work" (albeit at USB-C speed instead of Thunderbolt speed)?

I'm surprised by how many folks here are siding with the telcos on this one. These companies have a long history of absolutely making up anything to forward their agenda and their bottom lines.

It's true that the aviation industry is also motivated by money, but unlike telcos they also have to take passenger safety very seriously. And does anyone here remember the other science-driven industry that objected to hasty 5G rollouts, the weather forecasters? 

I think the claims of telcos should be taken with extreme skepticism.
