Apple's A12 Bionic comes close to desktop CPU performance in benchmarks
hentaiboy said:So why doesn’t Apple use these in its notebooks and end the reliance on Intel?
It sound like a bunch of malarkey to me. I can't see any of Apple's A-series SoCs matching an Intel i9 processor in high-end processing. Sure, maybe the A-series can compete against Intel i3s and i5s but that's about as far as it goes. I wish Apple all the luck in the world. It will need it. There's no way Wall Street is going to give a higher valuation to Apple due to competing with Intel's desktop offerings.
Apparently, Apple isn't interested in building powerhouse desktops and will likely settle for some meager-performing laptops or desktops they can make higher profit margins from. Just barely powerful enough for the average computer user. I think I know how Apple thinks and I'm sure Apple doesn't like to directly compete against any other manufacturer on a head-to-head basis. We'll see no brute force computers from Apple if they're switching over to A-series SoCs. Although I know it's not practical, I really get peeved when I see Intel/Windows system benchmarks up there in the stratosphere and Apple has absolutely nothing worthwhile to compare. I get it, I really do. It's just not Apple's way. Dell sells Alienware laptops that are bad-ass devices for gaming. There's no good financial reason for Apple to sell stuff like that.
If Apple does decide to go ARM with its computers, I just hope they are somewhat respectable because I absolutely hate the way reviewers are always criticizing Apple products due to their mediocre performance and high cost. Apple's future ARM solution better be really spectacular at something other than high profit margins. I'm just hoping Apple has some mystery SoC that can match a mid-range quad-core or hexacore Intel i7 but that doesn't seem very likely. Apple can do whatever it wants and doesn't need my approval. I just hope Apple really makes the right choice to keep the company up there above other tech companies. -
Samsung profits driven by iPhone XS components, smartphone earnings plummeting
All the smartphone reviewers say Samsung flagship smartphones are much better than Apple's iPhones. Samsung smartphones are said to have far more features at a much cheaper cost. Also, Samsung has a better selection of smartphones to choose from. At least that's what 99% of Youtubers have to say about Samsung smartphones. This year, the iPhone is suffering from Beautygate, Chargegate and Connectivitygate. Not even one Android flagship smartphone seems to have any problems at all or they're not being reported on the internet as such. There's the omnipresent complaint about iPhones not coming with fast chargers in the box despite their exorbitant price. No freaking headphone jack and the ugly display notch just about completes the reasons why iPhones are said to be inferior to all the Samsung offerings.
This year the iPhone is said to be TOO expensive for the consumer masses and supposedly no one is going to buy iPhones because they all believe Apple is just ripping-off consumers. So, with all that being said, I'm surprised Samsung smartphone sales are falling off. It just runs counter to what all the reviewers are saying. Apple's iPhone should clearly be losing the battle. Heck, Samsung is beating the pants off of Apple in terms total smartphone shipments. Apple appears to be doomed this year. Smartphone reviewers are never wrong.

Same old, same old. Only iPhones seem to have problems and that's just downright unlikely.

Police contracted to guard Apple Stores in Sacramento following theft spree
anton zuykov said:SpamSandwich said:Apple’s response to these thieves has been bizarrely slow, which is weird because the safety of other customers, not just lost merchandise, has also been at risk during these hits. They should’ve aggressively acted to protect customers first. In high crime areas, customers should be individually greeted by a friendly armed guard wearing a body camera recording system at the door.

I would think a heavily armed security guard at the door would be enough of a deterrent to stop those young punks. It's good enough for banks and Apple has more money than most banks. Of course, those lousy crooks shouldn't be harmed in any way because this is America and even dirty thieves have their rights. /s
It's a shame Apple has to "secure" their retail stores from such brazen acts of thievery. I'll bet this never happens to Microsoft retail stores. -
Woman immortalized by 5-foot iPhone headstone in Russia
Very nice. I suppose there are going to be the critics who say that iPhone is TOO expensive. Unfortunately, I know some a**holes that will try to destroy it with a sledgehammer or something. Most likely some anti-Apple, Android smartphone users. Other than being destroyed by someone, this is one iPhone that should last for many, many years.
